ABC Plans New Reality Show: “The Golden Cage”

ABC is importing yet another show. This time it’s the reality show “The Golden Cage”. If you follow international reality show news, you might notice that this is yet another Dutch import from the channel that airs “Deal or No Deal” and “Miljoenenjacht”, Tien. In the show, ten contestants basically live the rich life and are forced to live in a house filled with servants, lavish parties, terrific food, and that general stuff. However, players are not allowed to leave. The player who lasts the longest in the house wins the house and a cash prize. There are also bi-monthly firing sessions if players don’t start to leave on their own accord. I do know our good friends at Bother’s Bar have seen more of this show than I have, so if any of them would or could make a comment explaining the show in more detail, that would be great. Well exactly.

However, your contact with the outside world is limited to writing letters, a daily newspaper and 30 minutes of TV. You can have a visitor on your birthday and New Year, and that’s it. You’re allowed out of the cage for things like funerals only if the other players vote to allow it.

You leave the cage for ANY reason, you’re gone.

According to GSNN, the Alphabet are also considering importing 1 Miljoen Wat? - no, really.

Hmmm. This remids me of an old ABC rality show called, The Family. Where 10 family members live the rich life as they compete for a $1,000,000 trust.

Unlike Unan1mous, this probabyl isnt produced by Ashton Kutcher, so this should be a good show. Unan1mous was horrible.

Just for the record, Unan1mous was produced (and hosted) by J.D. Roth, not Ashton Kutcher

Unanimous was a pretty good show. They actually treated it like a social expirement more than a reality show which really gave it a unique feel. Critics hated it, but most critics hate most reality tellivision. It really had potential, and if the editing of the show were tweaked just a little it would have been perfect(and a full hour timeslot would have been nice… I don’t know who they were trying to kid with only a half hour show).

That being said, I doubt this show will last very long. It sounds to gaudy for American audiences to appreciate. Locking up a bunch of people in a mansion and watching them bitch and moan how they have it so hard because they can only write letters to their families? Lame. It doesn’t help that ABC doesn’t have that great of a track record for reality shows(aside from Dancing With The Stars, name three reality shows that were consistently good and recieved good ratings). I give this show a month before it gets canned, or a huge format overhaul, Big Brother 2 style(which will most likely lead to it being canned withen a month).

I am watching the show a few times a week, and what i can say is this.
The reality that started as a few wannabey miljonairs, is know nothing more then asocial people who are almost fighting/fucking and screaming at eachother after 7 months.
All the normal people are gone from the show, and the asocial stayed and they are getting a littlebit crazy.

Well i hope the show will be better over there.

The show is not boring at all.

What do you get when you put 10 people in 1 house with 5 beds and those people will get on eachother nerves all the time.
The stream are fun to watch sometimes,
i think this show will be a hit the same as Big Brother 1.
That’s because the format is new.

ps: the show will not be viewable for children after a while.
