Speaking of Millionaire, why don't they bring that back to primetime! That'll be a BIG hit! I mean the syndie version is over 1000 episodes, a primetime version should be atleast 100 (as long as they don't over do it, again).

I am a little skeptical of this new show. I just hope that they don't over do it like they did Millionaire! But I will watch and see!

>>Butler: I wouldn’t call Brooke Burns “classy” but that’s different topic for another day.

That was my point, but I digress.

Duel was pretty good! Certainly a step up from ABC's recent track record as far as game shows go. My only problem was with Mike Greenberg---he just seemed boring to me.

I don't think it'll be a blockbuster hit, but it should do well.

Thank you Ed for the reply and for your question. BTW, I really enjoyed your match against Lesek (hope I spelled his name right) on Grand Slam. That was one of several matches I couldn't wait to see. I only felt that Victor's area of expertise was in pop culture (BTW, I'm from Canada and we don't get VH1 so no Canadians got to see the World Series of Pop Culture). He did do great in the first round, but from what I saw, the later rounds proved to be his weak points. But I do agree with you that he did go against Ken. Maybe he could be a good contestant. But then again, I think you would do really well on Duel.

"The only thing I confused about (and I’m sure this will be cleared up on day 1) is how do you get a tournament with 24 players, becuase eventually that’ll leave you with an odd number, so I’m thinking there will a wild card or wildcards at some point."

Complete speculation here, but it makes sense:

Players will be seeded 1-12 based on how many chips they had remaining upon winning their first heat. They play down to 6, reseeding based on the total number of chips they had remaining in both matches, then play down to 3. When they get to the final three, the two players with the fewest chips remaining from their three previous matches will have to Duel to get a berth in the finals; the player who conserved the most chips then plays the winner of that Duel.

Personally, I like what I see. Greeny seems to be handling this spectacularly, and the fact that there's an OPTIONAL time limit. One possibility I find interesting is if a person, while pressed, hits their OWN Pressure Button. How would they handle that?

>>A classy persona is missing today? Am I missing something? I haven’t seen a single game show host in recent years that I would not call classy.

I'm not really enthusiastic after viewing the preview. (Nor am I enthused by a potential gameplay spoiler in another clip based on the contents of the preview clip)

For a game that claims to be all about psychology, they seem to spend more time showing us poker chips being put down than the actual contestant reaction. I don't really care if the set turns all red and there's countdown clocks all over the screen, if I can't see the other contestant's panic. A nice four-box shot of their faces and their playing surfaces would go a long way.

The Syndicated is a no, Deal has been strong for several years (like Millionaire before it going Syndie) so thats a strike there...

On the fact of them having 24 players, it cause I think they'll use a leaderboard system based on win/loss and/or money banked by player (remember those chips are $5,000 per chip, and I think I read somewhere chips not used by winner at end of game they get to have themselves)

The only thing I confused about (and I'm sure this will be cleared up on day 1) is how do you get a tournament with 24 players, becuase eventually that'll leave you with an odd number, so I'm thinking there will a wild card or wildcards at some point.

If the tournament works the way I think it will having 4 wildcards in round 2 and my math is right this means the potential jackpot is $2,665,000 assuming each winner goes down to 1 chip and their opponent uses up all of theirs. again, If I've got the format down right the least the jackpot could be is $1,350,000 assuming when a player misses a question all of their unused chips go into the pot and the winner doesn't lose a single chip each time. since that's unlikely I'd say the odds are pretty good the jackpot will be close to $2,000,000.

just from the 2-question clip I see a lot of memorable catch phrases which is good for recogntiion sake: "screen up", "screen down", "(name) you have been pressed you have 7 seconds" and the pressure music is the most intense thing I've ever heard, it's tense enough seeing the contestant scramble to place their chips during this time but wow!

I'm really looking forward to this. Thank god, my exam week is just about done so I can actually sit down and watch this.

"It’s too bad with “Grand Slam” begin show this year that we couldn’t get those contestants from that show, minus Amy Kelly and Victor Lee who I felt should not have been in the tournament, and see in this format would could “outduel” their opponent. Hey, that sounds good to me! I'd love to be on Duel. I'm curious why you would leave out Victor Lee. He played a pretty strong game against Ken Jennings.
