A Happy “Divided” Ending
I never expected the previous clip of Divided to get so much attention. It’s interesting the way it was split. Some people hated it because of the anger of the contestants. Some people loved it because of that same anger. Well I have something here that may make people feel a little better and a little less filthy. Friday’s Divided ended, well, just a little bit differently. I cut out the quiz portions to get to the part that people seem to talk about the most, but the team played fantastic and went all the way up to the final round before stopping. They elected to attempt to split their prize instead of trying to win £75,000 more by risking half their money. Did the team manage to come to a better resolution than Wednesday’s special team? Find out below.

The more I think about it the more I think this would be great for an american station to pick up, mainly because they'd never have to give away any significant amount of cash. Once it came down to the money dividing stage scenes like this would be incredibly rare, teams would bicker forever, and end up leaving with little cash, if any at all.

This game is so F'in cool.

I love the raw emotion in this game. How many times have you seen that kind of emotion on an American show for a prize less than $100,000? Now I'm in my desk chair and not in front of the cameras, but I think that's how I would play, I'd take C. My reasoning is that after those 50 seconds, B looks like C did to start with, and A looks a lot like B. My pride doesn't come before money.
I REALLY want to see Americans playing this…

There's still a flaw in this game..if you're the ungreedy one, and you take C and no one else takes C, YOUR clock should FREEZE, RIGHT THERE! Cause it sucks for you if you take C and the other two fight and your money goes down to zero because of two greedy bastards/bitches.

Johnny has a great idea, but I don't know how that would work technologically; the way this was done, the requirement of "C" to persuade both of the others was a key element. One thing I would like to see is an option upfront where everyone can agree unanimously to take an equal share, after the arguments are made for who is the "A" player, but the prize pot is cut to half if they do agree. A scenario like this would have worked best for this threesome. Each would have come away with over 10,000 pounds. In other words, give the contestants a chance to be rewarded for sharing equally.

Divided is a very good format and i do think that it would be a great show for the US market. It requires a level of teamwork which from a Brits point of view would be interesting to see American players take on, as the US gameshows i have seen they are always uber competitive.
As pointed out above it is surely to take close to 100% of C than stand and bicker and get close to 0% of A.
That seems like a decent idea. Or possibly an option for them to all take share B. Just so they don't have to add another value to the mix, which could possibly be confusing.

What Pete did, was exactly what needs to happen if you're going to tell everyone what they're getting. If you say "I'm getting A; you take B and C," nobody's going to listen to you. If you say "I'll take C," then the other two are probably more likely to listen to you and actually get some money.

This would be a great format for GSN to pick up. It could have the Inquizition feel to it with no audience, and they could lower the budget just a tad. Just make sure it's not on Saturday nights…PLEASE! This is how 20Q and The Money List got ruined. They were both well produced shows, but ended up getting dragged down by Big Saturday Night. If they were on their own on other nights, they would have survived. I think this show has the chance to work on a GSN level here in the US.

That is an absolutely fantastic ending. I didn't think I would ever see that in this game.

here's my take on the final portion, the nice guy in me says yes it would be nice if the ungreedy person still wins when the greedy ones lose, and a 50-30-20 divison would be more fair but the fact is the drama, the ungreedy people getting shanked and the 60-30-10 division is what's gonna keep viewers tuning in every time, face it people love the drama and suspense.
I don't think this would work on GSN for one simple reason, the prize money, I can't see GSN offering more than a top possible prize of $100K and most teams maybe accumulating between $10K-$20K which would lead to shares of $6K to $12K, $6K to $3K and $2K to $1K which isn't really exciting enough. this would have to go to a major network, prize money I'd say double what the uk version does in dollars.

I will say this, the game show will become a GUILTY PLEASURE for many of us, if it comes to the US. We can watch these 3 player watch maybe $ 500,000 in prize money go bye bye……..and we will be sitting in our chairs either stunned, shocked, or smiling.
agreed, I can honestly picture people talking about that at work the next day and to their friends on the phone:
"Did you see that pompus a**, on Divided last night?"
"I know, they had $500,000 and he blew it!, I'd have been thrilled to take 50 Grand any day"

That bloke Pete must be one hell of a teacher! Makes me proud to be in the same profession.
I am not from the US, but if Divided is aired in the US weekly on a high-budget channel, I suggest this prize structure:
Round 1, 5 questions, $10,000 each;
Round 2, 4 questions, $25,000 each;
Round 3, 3 questions, $50,000 each;
Round 4, 2 questions, $100,000 each;
Round 5, 1 question, $250,000.
Since the values are high, I expect the questions to be time-taking, that is, it should take the team quite some time to arrive at a unanimous answer, especially for sequencing questions, ant the Greed-esque final question.
But the Jackpot would be greatly diminished anyway because of the final negotiation on the split of the prize, wouldn’t it?
