A Few Bits of News

Posted by Alex Davis On March - 12 - 2008

Sorry for no updates recently, there’s barely been anything and I’ve been exhausted the past few days.  It’s been a long month.

*FOX wasn’t lying about the Human Tetris Japanese show remake of Hole in the Wall, were they?  We’ve got a casting notice now.  It seems like, oddly enough, they are taping in Australia.  For any Aussies we have reading this, is there a version of the show down there somewhere?  I have no idea why we’re going down there, but oh well.

*ABC is casting heavily for season two of Duel right now.  They are stressing the prize is “up to a million bucks in cash prizes”, so I’m taking a tiny guess that we’re getting some form of a money chain.  And that could be a lot worse; It could be a tournament again.  The rest of the budget probably went to new devices for host Mike Greenberg to wave around in his hand.  How about we give him a sparkler?  At least make it more exciting to watch.

The ratings will also be updated later tonight.

the “casting heavily” is total BS, only looking for SoCal folks is NOT CASTING HEAVILY!

I think a money chain for Duel would be a great concept. Kinda like 21 scoring maybe. All Duels best 2 out of 3 match each match won is shown below

1st Duel- $25,000 per match plus the jackpot of the chips

2nd Duel- $50,000 per match plus the jackpot of the chips

3rd Duel- $100,000 per match plus the jackpot of the chips

4th Duel – $250,000 per match plus the jackpot of the chips

5th Duel- $500,000 per match plus the jackpot of the chips

after 5 Duel then there would be two new people. Bascially the more duels you win the more money you win per match. I think that would be simplier for people to understand and could make this a lot of fun too. Also if a challenger doesn’t win a match then they leave with $2,500

I personally though can’t wait for Duel to come back but I hope that Greeny gets to show more personality but i like the waving a sparklier around.

FOX Hole In The Wall I probably shouldn’t prejudge but I sense this will stink just sounds boring to me.

  3. Luke Said,

So, I don’t know if anyone else noticed or how long its been going on, but I wanted to add that the newest version of I’ve Got A Secret was on GSN today after To Tell The Truth. I missed that show.

To Alex and Mark: I do not understand why so many folks denigrate Mike Greenberg. He was a good fit for the show and he did well given the crappy format. GIVE GREENY A CHANCE! If Wink says he is the Next Big Thing, that needs to be considered. I have seen plenty worse on TV recently.

My Only Comment on “Instant Recall”

Was it just me or was Instant Recall pretty tough?  If that’s what GSN thinks a tongue-in-cheek retro-style game show is, no wonder they are having so many problems.  It looks like a bad cable access show.  I feel bad…
