£250,000 Question on Channel 4′s “The Million Pound Drop”

While Fox’s version of The Million Pound Drop crashed and burned for a number of reasons, the British version is still living on Channel 4.  Davina Mccall hosts the show where answering eight questions could win you up to £1,000,000 as long as you can hold onto it.  It’s rare when couples go for giant money at the end.  Most of the time couples play for around £50,000 to £100,000.  Seeing someone have the chance at £250,000 doesn’t come often.  Nick and Katie are playing for the cash.  Only two answers are available and they have to place the entire £250,000 on one single drop zone.  The biggest win to date is £200,000.  Are they about to see £250,000 drop out of hand, or are they going to win £250,000 and be the biggest winners?

I blame FOX for crashing and burning this game show. It could’ve become huge in America, just like it has in the United Kingdom…

  • Chris Parsley says:

At least unlike some final questions, this is rather fair, as Rupert Bear started in Nov of 1920, while the “evil” (depending on what persuation you are) Rupert Murdoch was brought forth in Mar of 1931.

  • John says:

Adam why not “drop” an email or 2 to Fremantle Media and see if they could revive it. They’ve got a great track record making great game shows.

    • Don Paschal says:

I can give you a tape of Freemantle’s revival of Card Sharks to counter that…but remember, Endemol owns the glbals rights to Drop.

  • Adam says:

I apologize for my nasty outburst in an earlier post, and realize it was unnecessary. I just can never understand why OUR version was executed the way it was, and also why Today’s Game Shows are being dumbed down. Will this Dumbing Down ever stop? How do I explain to Fox and Endemol that we Americans are not that dumb?

BTW, I don’t think Fremantle was involved to any extent. Just Fox and Endemol. Anyway I could contact them?

  • Artemis says:

Every time I watch this show this season I just keep admiring the set. Those white lights around the border of the question are surprisingly effective. GAH IT’S SO PRETTY

  • Adam says:

We’ll never see it ever again b/c of stupid old Fox and Endemol being so arrogant and not caring about US

  • Jack says:

It’sa shame you guys acroos the pond have been denied the pleasures of this great programme by the corporate politics and greed of Fox and Endemol.

To be fair it’s not that huge inthe UK but it is one of the better game show formats around at the moment – certainly better than ‘Red or Black’

Shame on you Fox – Endemol

  • Adam says:

You tell ‘em, Jack. In fact, I’m e-mailing Endemol as I speak.

  • Adam says:

All right, I’ve e-mailed endemol. I went to contact on endemolusa.tv
