What’s Wrong With “Wheel” on April Fool’s Day? Thumbnail

What’s Wrong With “Wheel” on April Fool’s Day?

Another game show is getting into the April Fool's Day fun.  We're moving to Wheel of Fortune this time.  Ironically it's a bit like what Drew Carey, host of The Price is Right (which has some fun tomorrow as well), did on his sitcom.  Tomorrow, Wheel will have ten things wrong or out of the ordinary with the episode.  I've got no idea how vague or specific it'll be, but big Wheel watchers should get it quickly.  The show has a printable worksheet for you on their site. They've got a certain amount of things wrong with each segment.  For example, there are two things wrong with the opening, two things wrong with round one, and so on.  Check it out here.  Write down what you think the problems are and come back on April 2nd to figure out wha

News Flashes: Lyrics, The Hub, and Family Feud

*Twentieth Television's syndicated edition of Don't Forget the Lyrics! is still casting for its first daytime season.  It's been off of Fox's primetime lineup for around a year now.  The top prize will be $100,000; and it's hosted by former Sugar Ray lead singer Mark McGrath, taking over for Let's Make A Deal host Wayne Brady.  Be sure to know all the music you can: from the 50s to current hits.  All you have to be is at least 18 years old.  Have a great, fun personality and love to sing and you've got a shot at being on.  Click here to apply. I'd be expecting it to be a retread of the primetime version, and that's fine by me.  Oh, Fifth Grader was also renewed but we already knew that. *Hasbro's takeover of Discovery Kids, called The Hu

Preview of April Fool’s Day “Price is Right”

We're getting close to the episode of The Price is Right I've been looking forward to for a while.  Thursday is the special April Fool's edition, where Mimi takes over the show as the executive producer.  She makes the show how she wants it, and she's also set up a checklist and will grade Drew Carey based on how he does in that checklist.  Sounds like a certain fan base of the show, doesn't it?  Drew does make a really funny remark after that, about he never makes mistakes.  It looks to be an incredibly funny and fun episode.  Take a look below.  Looking forward to it?

“Minute to Win It” Week Three Ratings Recap and Preview Thumbnail

“Minute to Win It” Week Three Ratings Recap and Preview

Week three of NBC's new game show Minute to Win It has come and gone.  If nothing else the show did give off some faint vital signs, but we'll see if it's enough.  Ratings improved to a 3.7/6 this week.  Just simply in that rating it went up a lot from last week's 2.9/5.  In viewers the show improved by around 500,000 eyes, so that's something at least.  But the bad news is that it got crushed unmercifully by The Amazing Race, which had around 11 million viewers at 8:30PM ET.  To make matters worse Minute even got beat by a rerun of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The only show it beat was The Simpsons, but that was only by 70,000 people which isn't anything to gloat about.  It tied for last place in the key demographic with that rerun o

The Room Live Presents New Internet Game Show “Celebrity Liar” Thumbnail

The Room Live Presents New Internet Game Show “Celebrity Liar”

Internet game shows have come and gone rapidly over the past few years.  It tends to be because they are all pretty bland and don't break out of the mold much.  The Room Live, which is an interactive live streaming studio in Hollywood, has changed things up a bit and started a new net game show called Celebrity Liar.  We've talked a bit about the new Mark Burnett pilot for ABC Trust Me, I'm A Game Show Host.  I think the people at The Room Live beat them to the punch. The show's as simple as can be, and very fun and interactive.  The host, Andrew Hill Newman, picks a topic for two celebrities to tell a story about.  And these aren't the usual expanded cable celebrities.  There are some actual good celebrities in here.  You can see storie

Weekend Replay: Intense “Hot Seat” Thumbnail

Weekend Replay: Intense “Hot Seat”

Continuing our accidental weekend of Millionaire, we're moving to Australia and their popular spinoff Hot Seat.  I've said it before, but for repetition's sake here we go again: despite my initial fears the show is warming up to me.  It's just Millionaire in a different package.  And frankly the package tends to be more exciting than the US version is.  Take this episode for example.  The show can screw good contestants over occasionally and force them to take random guesses with no strategy, but it's hard to deny this is the most exciting episode of any version of Millionaire that has aired in a very long time.  Not to mention the host, Eddie McGuire, is fantastic; it's got a nice set; and the game just flows and plays well.  It's got a ni

Top Prize Given Away on Polish “Millionaire” Thumbnail

Top Prize Given Away on Polish “Millionaire”

It's the weekend of Millionaire big winners around here apparently.  But I've only got great videos for you.  More with the US Dancing With the Stars edition later.  A while ago we discussed how Poland's version of Millionaire, MIlionerzy, finally gave away its first top prize after being off-and-on for around ten years.  That time finally came today.  The video is below.  It's always nice to see the giant wins like this, isn't it?  It made me think it's a bit amazing that we haven't had a million dollar question on the syndicated version for two years.  Coming up a bit later tonight (it's taking a while since it's an HD video) is an unbelievable episode of Australia's Hot Seat.  You won't want to miss that. News Flashes: Rich Fields Video, “Trust Me”, and “Poker” Ratings

I've got a few news flashes for you today. *A few weeks ago we talked about ABC picking up a new Mark Burnett pilot Trust Me, I'm A Game Show Host.  The show involves two hosts talking about something, with one being truthful and the other lying.  The contestants have to figure out which one is trying to trick the other.  It looks like that's going to tape its pilot soon.  Craigslist posts are going up for a new Mark Burnett game show that fits the description perfectly.  As with everything else it's based out of Los Angeles, so if you're in the area and want a shot at big money, click here to participate.  It looks to be a really interesting and different show if nothing else. *GSN released some High Stakes Poker ratings information.

Monty Hall’s Dealing Again

This week has been an especially fun one on Let's Make a Deal. Monty Hall is back, dealing out one game in each episode (Don't worry if you missed him; he'll be on again on Friday's show at some point). Wednesday's episode, especially, was a blast, as apparently something that never happened in all of Let's Make a Deal's history finally happened, and with Monty, no less!
