Review of 20Q: OK, I Was Wrong
I don't think you have to be a regular reader to know that I wasn't a fan of the original 20Q pilot shot for syndication. When I heard GSN picked it up, I had low expectations. Before the tapings began the network tried to make me excited for it. They said how much they improved it and all that stuff, but I still wasn't sold. I know there may be some people, especially at the network, who think I'm negative about a lot of stuff they do (which isn't true since I've only been really negative about Big Saturday Night so far, but I digress). BuzzerVision: UK Deal or No Deal 6/10 (Part 1)
A few days ago, Alex told me about an episode of the UK version of Deal or No Deal that had one of the best game plays he had ever heard of. I got around to watching it this weekend, and I agreed. A Note to GSN: Can You Stop Making Fun of Game Shows and Fans for a Bit?
We'll have a more direct review of GSN's Big Saturday Night, which I'm just calling BSNight since that's essentially what it is, later. However, there's been a really good topic of conversation I've been getting emailed and IMed about quite a bit frequently, since GSN did the 2009 Game Show Awards. I didn't notice it until it was pointed out, but the more I watch some of their recent stuff, I can easily see how people feel. Does anyone else get the idea that GSN is just making fun of game shows at this point? I'm not saying poking fun at them is bad. I do it constantly here. How to Play Syndicated “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader”
Regular readers know that I'm a vocal critic of FOX's Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader and figured that the initial report of the crew essentially leaving the show as it is for the syndicated version debuting September 2009 was a giant mistake. Let's be honest, like 90% of quiz shows out this decade it's a gigantic clone of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? except essentially for dumbasses. The fun part, though, of running a semi-popular crazy rambling website is audience members can tell me what goes on during the tapings and you all can digest it. We'll have full reviews once I'm down for long enough to write about it, but you can write your reviews of 20Q, The Money List, and Big Saturday Night, all airing on GSN tonight. As a very brief review, as I said before I really like The Money List a lot, 20Q ended up better than I expected, and Big Saturday Night ranged from rough to painful.

If you're a regular reader of the site, you know I've had nothing but good things to say about Fred Roggin from day one of his hosting job on GSN Live. Then I get very excited when it's announced GSN is reviving the one-and-done FOX game show The Rich List now called The Money List. And then even more excitement is added once I find out the host is indeed Fred Roggin. Fred's really great at what he does and very entertaining to watch. A Public Apology to Former “Price is Right” Director Bart Eskander
This is Alex Davis. I want to make a very major retraction from a post left by substitute writer Cory Anotado on the subject of former director of The Price is Right Bart Eskander. The original information Cory published, taken from the Price is Right fan site Golden-Road.net, stated that Bart Eskander, the former director in question, was fired from The Price is Right. We have since learned that this is completely incorrect and that Mr. Eskander voluntarily left the show after 30 years of service. We have since removed this post, the comments, and all other false material pertaining to this. Spain’s Version of 20Q: “20P”
Before you get confused I'm taking a stab in saying that the Spanish version of 2oQ is called 20P since questions is preguntas in Madrid Language, or Spanish as some say. I've wanted to talk a lot more about GSN's 20Q, debuting June 13th at 8:00PM ET, but there's been nothing more than a press release or two out there for it. Ratings Report: Flat or Down For All in June, Except “Wipeout”
The first week of June did nothing much for any of the syndicated game shows, or network for that matter, except one. Everyone was either flat, down, or nonexistent. We've been doing a lot of promotion for the new season of Family Feud because I truly believe this is the show to watch in the Fall 2009 season. It's reinventing itself a bit and it'll be fun to see what it does for the ratings. However, it's been hanging in there nicely this season. For the first week of June, the show stayed put at a 1.4. The big thing for Feud is that it's a relatively inexpensive show that can stick around this level of ratings and be safe. Keegan-Michael Key Hosts GSN’s Big Saturday Night; Awards Show Loses a Rerun
Two bits of GSN news for you. First off, it has been announced that former MadTV cast member will be the host of GSN's Big Saturday Night, a three hour block of two original shows including live performances and gaming which can award in-studio and at-home players cash (of up to $5,000) and prizes over the next nine weeks. There will be two correspondents for the show: Ross Matthews (Ross the Intern from Jay Leno's former Tonight Show) and Charissa Thompson (FOX Sports correspondent). The two new shows, again, are 20Q and the very fun Money List. Each show will run for 90 minutes because of added filler with the entire block but will be run in its normal one hour format in reruns.
