The Ugly Side of British Game Show “Divided”
When I was first posting the episode of the new British game show Divided for you all, I purposely chose a nice ending so you can see how good it can be. Now let's go to the dark side. Let's show you how evil it can be. [stream flv=x:/www.flashgameshows.com/wordpress/videos/dividedextrapt.flv width=630 height=343 bandwidth=med /]

I've been doing this site for a long time, and I've never had the chance to say that someone's been kicked in the balls on a game show until now! Watch a quick clip of this week's The Price is Right where an excited winner knees Drew Carey in the balls. If you get a chance, just skip to around the 3:30 mark. Who cares about the game in this situation. What happens after is funnier.

If Family Feud's increase in prize money to $30,000 isn't enough to get you excited, and a $150,000 total in your entire five day champion reign, how does a chance at a brand new car sound? That's right. A team that stays on the show for the full five days, which doesn't happen often, will win a brand new car. It's another exciting edition to the record 11th season of Family Feud hosted by John O'Hurley. Taping starts June 7th. We'll be on set sometime in late June/early July with the full details.

I just wanted to correct and clear somethig about GSN and their Big Saturday Night. Ross Matthews isn't host just a featured performer. Also my negative comments weren't really about the whole thing. It's more about 20q. Don't get the wrong idea. Big Saturday Night sounds fun. My only fear is stretching a 60 minute show to 90 minutes for this. But this does sound like a fun thing. I just wanted to clarify.

This is just a small word for the people who never leave me alone about PDFs. I'm not in a mass conspiracy to keep them away from you. If GSN doesn't send them to me, I can't upload them. I have not received PDFs in a while.

One of GSN's new marketing initiatives is the all new Big Saturday Nights, starting June 13th at 8:00PM ET. Hosted by Ross Matthews (Ross the Intern from Jay Leno's Tonight Show), over the nine weekends people at home and in studio can play games to win cash and prizes. Up to $1,000,000 over those nine weeks will be given away. So don't go there expecting to win a million like some of the casting notices I've read make it seem. That's the total that can be given away over the course of the event. Live music and comedy will be tossed in. Essentially, it's a three hour GSN Live with extra additions and, frankly, a more annoying host. This also stretches each of the 60 minute shows to 90 minutes so I hope you like things dragged out.

Time for another ratings report. Nothing great to talk about for the week of May 17th, sadly. Every syndicated show was pretty down, some hitting season lows. All except Jeopardy! and, shockingly, Trivial Pursuit. First off, Jeopardy! was up 2% from the last week to hit a 5.4. It's not a lot higher than last week, but it's better than a loss obviously. Again, the real shocker was that Trivial Pursuit's ratings went much higher. The good news: the canceled syndicated quizzer hosted by 2009 Game Show Award nominee (best celebrity team) Christopher Knight went up a big 20%. The bad news: it's still at its usual .6. It's just not destined to move from that mark, is it? The worse news is that it's still canceled and basically was in Se

Family Feud is going to start taping its record eleventh season of the show in a few weeks with the top prize climbing to $30,000 this season, and the cast and crew is deep into the casting process. More than any other question I receive, people want to know how to become a contestant on all the different game shows. A majority of those want to know about Family Feud. When I was in Los Angeles a week ago, I got to a casting day the show held in Hollywood and see how families are casted, what they need to do, and what families did to prepare for their big day. I had a chance to talk to the great contestant casting producer Sara Dansby about the entire process. I asked her what the families do in the audition. For all those wanting to

My favorite show of last summer, and probably my favorite show of the year, has finally come back for its second season. ABC's comedy and obstacle course show Wipeout is starting now, at 8:00PM ET, on ABC. If you're a fan and want to comment about the show, throw them in here. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us this summer.

If you don't get to see the really good half hour syndicated edition of Deal or No Deal, or if your market won't be carrying Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? when it moves to daytime in Fall 2009, you're in luck. MyNetworkTV, in an attempt to cut costs and revamp itself as a programming service, has picked up both game shows to air in primetime in Fall 2009, starting September 28th. Looks like we will have new game shows in primetime somewhere afterall. Both shows will air on Tuesday nights. An hour (two episodes) of the new Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, will air Tuesdays from 8:00PM ET to 9:00PM ET. After that an hour (again, two episodes) of Deal or No Deal will be seen at 9:00PM ET to 10:00PM

Do you ever watch the syndicated version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, which is only a half hour long, and really wish there was a full hour of it with the same exact rules? You're in luck! We found out, from ABC's press material, that the network 10 year anniversary edition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, hosted by Regis Philbin, is basically the syndicated edition, rule for rule, mixed in with the Fastest Finger competition. Coming to primetime are the original lifelines Ask the Audience and Phone a Friend along with newly added Double Dip and Ask the Expert, both of which come from the former series Super Millionaire (albeit Ask the Expert then was Three Wise Men). Also, to answer the question I was asked most, the clock will b

Quick update here. We knew Cat Deeley was going to be the host of GSN's 20Q from a leak on the audience page. Hal Sparks will be the co-host, acting as the computer voice. I guess I Love the 80s isn't coming back. In the interest of full disclosure, we were asked to remove the information about Cat Deeley hosting last Sunday until it was announced publicly. We'll have a review of The Money List soon.

You'll be hearing a lot about GSN's 2009 Game Show Awards, which debuts on June 6th at 8:00PM ET, for the next few days. We've already shown you some pictures of the actual awards themselves. You haven't seen anything from our red carpet experience yet, though. I've never sat through a red carpet event before. Really, how many times will a game show fan have to be on a red carpet? Some big game show celebrities, and some personal favorites of mine, walked the carpet. GSN personalities like Heidi Bohay and Fred Roggin (GSN Live and The Money List, respectively) walked as well as comedians like Nicole Sullivan (Rita Rocks). One of the biggest thrills I experienced at the awards was talking to Monty Hall, host of Let's Make A Deal. H
