For the next two weeks, if you're a Bingo America fan I'd be watching and playing for the next two Wednesdays, or at least through December 31st.  GSN is extending its Winner's Wednesdays to the end of the month.  Instead of the originally announced $250 given away, they are upping the prize to $1,000.  Check out the official site for more information.

Weekend Replay: Hicks Family on “Family Feud”

I think it's time to bring back one of our favorites: Weekend Replay.  I've got a good one to keep you entertained this weekend.  It's from one of my favorites, the syndicated Family Feud.  We have a behind the scenes look at the show coming up for you next week but we have one of the most entertaining families I've seen on the show.  It's the Hicks family.  Marcus is hysterical.  Enjoy, and take a look.  They are returning champs and will be back on Monday for game three, so be sure to check it out.  They are always entertaining.

Howie Mandel Interview; Christmas “Deal or No Deal”

I figure this is a good time to update you on a few things.  But first, NBC supplied us with an interview with Deal or No Deal host Howie Mandel about the Christmas version.  I don't know if he is oblivious to the fact that people seem to be sick of the gimmicks or NBC's essentially feeding him what to say, but whatever. [stream flv=x:/www.flashgameshows.com/wordpress/videos/dondchristmasinterview.flv width=630 height=343 bandwidth=med /] Second off, we just finished a year of our new stat system and had to reset because, and I'm not kidding, a database expert said we had too many hits stored in that database for the stats page to load correctly.  All totalled over December 2007 to December 2008, we had over 2.6 million hits which stu

GSN Officially Announces “Newlywed Game” for 40 Episodes Thumbnail

GSN Officially Announces “Newlywed Game” for 40 Episodes

Our "rumors" were true: GSN has now officially picked up a revival of Newlywed Game from Michael Davies and his Embassy Row company.  GSN ordered 40 episodes of the new edition which will tape in February (we'll be in the studio for it) and will air sometime in Spring 2009.  Davies says the show will be a natural update: "Marriage has changed over the years -- what couples talk about, what they fight about. So there will be a lot of updating just by the fact of our casting. In doing presentations, it's become clear to us that wives today are far more vocal than in the previous episodes. There's just a lot of guys looking concerned that they're about to get in trouble -- and usually they do. It's thoroughly entertaining." No word on the h

Pat Sajak Shoots “Wheel of Fortune” Promos in SeaWorld

If you're a fan of the popular syndicated game show Wheel of Fortune, or just know of the show's nature like essentially the entire country does, then you know they like to travel a lot.  A series of episodes from Hawaii was shown recently, and now Wheel is headed to Orlando.  Episodes finished taping on Wednesday, and we were provided with some fun pictures of a prize promo shoot that host Pat Sajak did in SeaWorld.  Enjoy.  Orlando episodes will air in Spring 2009.

GSN Adjusts Schedule in January; Vieira “Millionaire” Moved Around Thumbnail

GSN Adjusts Schedule in January; Vieira “Millionaire” Moved Around

It's been a while since GSN's done any schedule shakeup, and January apparently seems as good of a time as any.  All of this takes place starting January 5th.  Starting that Monday at 9:30PM ET, Tic Tac Dough is being replaced by the Bob Eubanks edition of Card Sharks.  Tic Tac Dough is one of the lowest rated classics on the network according to some figures I recently found, so it's not a big shock.  It gets well below 100,000 viewers basically every episode save for a freak occurrence that occurs with a long time champion. Most of GSN's changes come in primetime.  Meredith Vieira's Who Wants to be a Millionaire hour long block is being broken up.  At 8:00PM ET is now the Richard Karn edition of Family Feud followed by an episode of Mi

“Million Dollar Password” New Series Tonight at 8:00PM ET on CBS Thumbnail

“Million Dollar Password” New Series Tonight at 8:00PM ET on CBS

I have a feeling a lot of our readers are looking forward to the series two debut of Million Dollar Password tonight at 8:00PM ET.  It's a special preview episode tonight featuring Aisha Tyler of CSI and William Shatner of the recently canceled ABC show Boston Legal.  Sunday has a new episode, but let's focus on tonight.  Again, the only change this season is that the quarter million dollar level is a milestone, so you get a free shot at a million.  You also get to see all six Passwords before going for the quarter million prior to deciding to walk with your money or gamble.  CBS provided us with a video preview of the new series.  Enjoy, and be sure to tell us what you think of the new season tonight as it goes on. New PDF/Updated Sunday Night Poker for GSN

A new PDF of GSN's January 2009 schedule was uploaded, enjoy.  No major changes.  I don't know if we went over this already or not, but Lingo will be airing at 11:30PM ET starting Monday, December 29th, replacing Whammy!.  Beyond that the only change is a switch in Sunday Night Poker, where High Stakes Poker will air from 6:00PM ET to 10:00PM ET (replacing Pyramid at 6), World Poker Tour at 10:00PM ET to 11:00PM ET, another High Stakes Poker at 12:00AM ET, and more World Poker Tour at 1:00AM ET.  Edit: Whoops, left this off, thanks to the commenter for pointing it out.  Bill Rafferty's Blockbusters replaces Bill Cullen's edition on January 18th at 10AM E.

Christmas at “Deal or No Deal” Videos

Deal or No Deal's annual Christmas episode is quickly approaching.  You can watch it on Christmas Day at 8PM E on NBC.  We were provided with a preview of what you can find.  Changes for this episode include boxes instead of cases, the front of the audience was for some reason converted into an ice rink, and a side game for some extra money is included.  You can find all about it in the preview.  Coming later this week is an interview with host Howie Mandel about the special episode. Best Holiday Gifts for Game Show Fans Thumbnail

Best Holiday Gifts for Game Show Fans

It's amazing that Christmas is almost here, isn't it?  It doesn't seem that long ago that we were welcoming in 2008, and 2009 is right around the corner.  Christmas is only in 8 days and it may be time to get those last minute gifts for your family.  If you have game show fans in your family, or just know people who like games, we have a list of our favorites items of the past year which will make anyone on your list happy. Recently released for the iPhone, iPod, and other mobile devices is the new version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? which will make a fantastic gift along with the DVD version.  The DVD game is a pretty fun party game, including the multiplayer mode, but it's always a bit disappointing to see they can never include Switch the Question on any game using the old format.  But beyond that, it follows the original version of the show very well.  Click here to get it from GSNShop.  In regards to the iPhone game, the format is exactly as it is on television currently.  You have ten Experts available to use for Ask the Expert.  Modern graphics and actual show music are used well, as well as a video introduction from host Meredith Vieira.  For $4.99, it's definitely worth the purchase.  Honestly, the only negative mark is that the categories repeat in one game more than they should, but the questions are different. Check the iPhone app store to get that. (more...)

Why “The Price is Right” is Doomed Thumbnail

Why “The Price is Right” is Doomed

I just got back from Los Angeles last night.  I read about what happened on Tuesday's episode of The Price is Right first, since my inbox was flooded with it.  After that I watched the clip of the perfect bid in the Showcase.  Honestly, this post isn't about that moment, as Cory nailed that perfectly.  All I will say is I can totally see where Drew's reaction was coming from.  I had the same reaction when I heard about it before I saw it.  I think Drew could have faked it a bit more, but he's not like that and CBS knew what they were getting into when they hired him.  He's a real person and acts like how most do.  And I think that's why The Price is Right is screwed and I could have told you this two years ago.   Because we are finding out a few things about the format. (more...)
