Final December PDF Uploaded

One more thing to hold you over threw the holiday.  GSN's PDF schedule for the final week of December is on the sidebar with new increased font size!  It includes the episode info for the Christmas marathon so the emails about which specific episodes will be seen can finally stop.  Because I still have no idea.  Some of the more knowledgeable classic fans can easily find out and post here.

Happy Thanksgiving!

So yeah, I'm gone right now but we have this awesome automatic post feature which lets me write an article around 12 hours in advance and make it whenever I want.  Which is now.  I was actually at home today and I got to watch the increasingly fun The Price is Right.  The first Showcase for today is possibly my favorite ever.  Absolutely hysterical.  I'm really loving this new direction.  Here you go; hopefully this will tide you over for a day or two.  Have a great thanksgiving.  And go Penguins.

“Deal or No Deal” Off of NBC’s January Schedule Thumbnail

“Deal or No Deal” Off of NBC’s January Schedule

It's been rumored, but Primetime Deal or No Deal's cancelation is coming closer to truth.  NBC released their midseason January 2009 schedule and Deal or No Deal, one of two or three shows which has kept the network from utter ratings disaster over the past few years, is gone.  It's been replaced by Howie Do It, a new reality show featuring Howie Mandel.  I think it's important to note that Daytime Deal or No Deal is in no way in danger of being canceled.  Ratings went up yet again last week, to a 1.9, and really starting to challenge Who Wants to be a Millionaire?.  It's Primetime Deal that is looking really ugly right now. In almost a mirror of the rise and fall of ABC Millionaire?, Deal or No Deal looks to basically be dead.  Obviousl

Christmas at “Deal or No Deal” Gallery

Christmas is approaching really fast, isn't it?  It's staggering.  NBC supplied us with some pictures of their yearly Christmas edition of Primetime Deal or No Deal.  Rumors of it's cancelation are still buzzing around, so enjoy this nightly Christmas episode while you can.  I'll give the NBC crew one thing: they do decorate the set and do the themed episodes extremely well, don't they?  Here's a small gallery of images.  Only thing of note that I know of is that the models are using wrapped boxes for this episode and audience is being awarded a ton of gifts for being there.  Sadly the storyline for this episode hasn't been released yet, but I wouldn't be shocked to see the top prize be in the area of $2,000,000.  But of course I've been wr

Fresh from the “Millionaire” Set

Just a reminder if anyone at all cares that the week of Who Wants to be a Millionaire I saw this week is on television.  Right now the back of my head is nationally famous.  Here's a repost of my set report. Millionaire is my favorite game show, bar none.  I wasn't really into game shows before Millionaire came out.  So when I heard about all the changes coming to the show, I was obviously a bit nervous.  I was happy to say I was mostly satisfied with what I saw on set. First off, if you go to NYC, I can't urge you to go to see the show enough.  It was an incredible amount of fun.  My only other taping experience was Chain Reaction and, well, that didn't go so well.  A three hour taping for a 21 minute show sort of destroys you.

Preview of Thanksgiving on Primetime “Deal or No Deal”

I know we posted a bit of these clips before, but I needed an excuse to use our new video system.  Now we have a higher definition Quicktime version of the video in addition to the lower quality faster to load Flash version.  Also we're in the process of totally redoing the Video page to make it much easier for you to see what's going on.  Check out the new BuzzerVision page which is slowly rolling out and updating constantly as we convert all our old videos.  But for now, take a look at Thanksgiving on Deal or No Deal. GSN Radio Hits New York City and Los Angeles Stations

I don't know how many of you sit in an office for way too long every day, but a great way to keep the long work days going is GSN's interactive game GSN Radio.  You can listen live online every weekday from 1PM ET to 5PM ET.  It's incredibly entertaining and a vast majority of that comes from the fantastic hosts Bob Goen (whose That's The Question really should still be on the air with new episodes) and his wife Marianne Curan.  Traditional radio games, quick versions of some of GSN's shows like the popular Catch 21, and original ideas like $1,000 Minute and Captain Cash keep people entertained daily. However, the main news comes from the new "best of" version coming soon.  If you live in Los Angeles or New York City, you can listen dail

Judging Specifics for “Million Dollar Password” Thumbnail

Judging Specifics for “Million Dollar Password”

Whenever we get a new show out with really picky judging like Million Dollar Password, I get a lot of emails about how the judging is done.  thankfully, unlike so many other shows, we were provided with a rules bible.  It's unbelievably long as far as judging goes, but it's good to be prepared for a word game.  It's an interesting read too.  We know the rules by now, and if not you can read the rules page which we really need to get restarted.   Again, the only changes this season are that a quarter million dollars is now a milestone giving you a free shot at the million and you are able to see all six Passwords used for that level (you only need to get five to move on).  Last season you were only able to see five of the six.  You see the words for three seconds each.  But on to the judging.  Here are a few of the interesting rules I found.  All of the rules are listed under the page break. *Commonly known words that do not appear in either of the dictionaries of record are acceptable if they are not illegal for any other reason. For example, a commonly known word such as “bootylicious” is acceptable. *All Passwords are single, non-hyphenated words. Clues must also be single, non-hyphenated clues. Examples of illegal clues include “twenty-five" and "New Zealand". However, we will accept the word “e-mail” as a legal clue. *Brand names are allowed if they are well-known. "Hershey" would be an acceptable clue for the Password "chocolate". *Using a clue that rhymes with the Password is legal, as long as the rhyme is an otherwise legal word (for example, "table" is a legal clue for "cable"). However, it is illegal to use any form of the clue "Rhyme" to indicate that a rhyming clue has been or will be used. (more...)

Betty White Guests on “Wheel of Fortune” During Week of December 8th Thumbnail

Betty White Guests on “Wheel of Fortune” During Week of December 8th

Wheel of Fortune has a slew of special theme weeks coming up soon, and one in particular for game show fans.  Starting off, the week of December 8th will be Pet Lover's Week.  All during that week, pictures of the contestants and their pets will be showcased.  In addition to that, a $1,000 donation from the Petco Foundation to an animation charity will be awarded if a contestant picks up the Petco gift tag on the wheel.  If you go to Wheel's website, you can see some pictures of the cast and crew and their pets as well. But here's what I'm guessing most of you are interested in.  The queen of game shows, Betty White, will make a special walk on sometime during the week.  When?  You'll have to tune in to figure that out.  Betty White, an animal rights activist, can also be seen on an upcoming episode of Million Dollar Password. Watch out for two more theme weeks in January.  Armed Forces Week and Teachers Week will be showcased then.  And don't forget that Wheel's $5K Every Day competition is going on!

Rumor Control: “Beat the Blondes/Bunch” Now Casting Thumbnail

Rumor Control: “Beat the Blondes/Bunch” Now Casting

Honestly, the absolutely only reason this is a rumor is because I have no idea on the network, but I can just about absolutely guarantee the validity of this story.  Casting directors on Craigslist have been searching for female models and male body builders for a new show.  All of these people are being called the "Bunch".  However, in one of the casting notices the show was called Beat the Bunch.  In the casting notices, it's a quiz show for a top prize of $50,000.  From what I'm reading, it's a non gender specific version of Beat the Blondes, a format from 3ball Productions.  Here's the format's site. Beat the Blondes has been on the air in Russia for a bit now and we've embedded a clip of the show below.  However, we apparently shot a pilot a while ago for it, hosted by Tom Arnold.  Honestly, the show's just 1 VS 100 lite; a very small scale version of it.  I'm just guessing some network decided the gender stereotyping of this was asking for problems. The top prize is $50,000 on this version (as opposed to the original $100,000), so now comes the guessing game of what network is it going to.  Anyway, here are some clips from the Russian version.

Various GSN News Items

Sorry, I thought someone was updating the site when I went away.  Guess not.  But lots of GSN news in my inbox.  First off watch GSN Live tomorrow.  Alan Thicke who hasn't been as awful as an Expert on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? this week as I imagined, will be the guest.  You can see him at around 1:15PM ET.  He hosted a GSN show called Three's A Crowd a long time ago.  Apparently it wasn't that popular because I don't remember him on GSN at all. Bingo America tomorrow is going to be great for all home viewers playing along as well.  On Friday, the hit GSN show Bingo America will be matching any $50 winner with a $50 gift certificate for a "turkey".  Although it may be worth noting that there's no way in hell you'll be getting your prize before Thanksgiving so let's just say you'll be winning $100 if you play along tomorrow.  Just go to GSN's Bingo America website, download your cards, and play at 6:30PM E. And oh yeah, High Stakes Poker is taping in a few weeks.  It'll take place at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
