“Hole in the Wall” Gets Preview Episode

Sorry for the lateness of updates recently.  I've been out a lot and unless other writers write something, there's not a ton I can do.  Getting ready for a New York business trip again.  Always busy. FOX will be attempting to get a larger audience to take interest in the show that continues to baffle me, Hole in the Wall.  Hole, the new show where contestants shove their bodies through holes in walls over and over and over, will be shown on September 9th at 9:35PM till 10:00PM, following the new drama Fringe. I still just fail to see how this is going to connect with viewers.  I've had the point made that Wipeout  is in the same embarrassment business, but Wipeout has more variety.  FOX and Fremantle made a game show out of a small se

GSN Radio Live Today

I spaced out about GSN's new endeavor, GSN Radio, for a while yesterday by accident. I caught the last hour and I have to tell you, I was really impressed. It's one of GSN's best "from the ground up" projects. Right off the bat it's very good. Probably because they have two great hosts, Bob Goen and his wife Marianne Curan, who know what they are doing and aren't fumbling around. It's great from the start also because, to be honest, it's basically Playmania but with lower stakes, better hosts, and they don't have to worry about the television image of it. A good deal of games are played during the 1PM to 5PM broadcast, which you can listen to by going to GSNRadio.com. Some games include a How Much is Enough? like game called Beat t

“Millionaire” Changes Made Official Thumbnail

“Millionaire” Changes Made Official

So yeah, we knew about these changes for a while, but it was finally made official today: Who Wants to be a Millionaire? is getting a mega makeover for the new season. 50:50 and Switch the Question are gone. I could care less about Switch, it never quite did what it was meant to do. People kept using it at the $50,000 free guess. 50:50, I'm still iffy about. In its place are Double Dip, which allows you to answer the question twice but you are committed to going for it, and Ask the Expert, which becomes available on the $2,000 question and lets you ask an expert in a way close to Phone a friend. The time limits are coming, and I still don't think it's enough. 15 seconds for the first five is fine. Then for the next group of five,

Weekend Replay: Primetime “Deal or No Deal” Preview Thumbnail

Weekend Replay: Primetime “Deal or No Deal” Preview

Here's day two of the "I'm sorry I've been so busy" Weekend Replay.  As promised, it's a video preview of the fourth season of NBC's hit game show Deal or No Deal.  Again, new things to look for are the new stair and floor animations, new Banker booth, models wearing wigs (at least for game one), and, probably most cool of all, Howie's entrance through the board. Weekend Replay Day One: “Weakest Link”

We've been really busy the past few days and have neglected on updates and videos.  Really sorry about that.  In return, I thought that, in addition to the Deal or No Deal preview tomorrow, I'd go in our vault and find a great video.  And thanks to one of our writers, we have it.  Weakest Link is one of my favorite shows in a while.  I've said it often, but I did think NBC screwed up the primetime versions.  However, the daytime version with George Gray was fantastic.  NBC host Anne Robinson wasn't really given the time to show her true self, and the sped up gameplay of the syndicated version helped that.  George was a master at taking down the contestants and kicking their asses.  Enjoy the last 8 minutes of an episode of Weakest Link and

Set Updates For Season Four of “Deal or No Deal” Thumbnail

Set Updates For Season Four of “Deal or No Deal”

Every new season of NBC's Deal or No Deal seems to bring some set changes of some kind.  While the new ones are relatively unnecessary (as hey have basically always been), they are still extremely cool.  First off, the floor and stairs have a new 1 VS 100 mob wall like effect.  Animations and other stuff is constantly going.  It's a very nice effect. As you can see from the pictures also, the Banker has a new office now.  Still there are is the desk and chairs and the monitors showing all the different cameras.  However, the rest of the office is all neon lit now.  It changes with the rest of the set.  Also, it blinks white and red when a call is coming in.  At least for the first episode, the models are wearing identical wigs along with

“Trivial Pursuit” Website Alive

Isn't this refreshing?  Syndicated Deal or No Deal's website went live a bit ago.  Now Trivial Pursuit: America Plays has their going!  At least they are getting some information and press out about the show more than 2 weeks before it debuts which is more than could be said for Crosswords and Temptation.  You can submit your questions now too and potentially win hundreds of dollars.  Click here to visit the site!

Chuck Woolery to Host Million Dollar Cat Game Show Thumbnail

Chuck Woolery to Host Million Dollar Cat Game Show

Did you forget about GSN's million dollar cat game show and thought it was a nightmare? Yeah, I kinda wish I did too. But apparently it's not, as GSN today announced Chuck Woolery will be hosting the spectacle. Chuck previously hosted GSN's longest running original, Lingo, which was unceremoniously dumped in favor of such gems as How Much is Enough a bit ago. The special, on November 15th, sees cats and their human partners play what are essentially retooled classic game shows in some bastardization of a format for the chance at a million dollars. And if the million is actually somehow won I'm going to cough up a hairball. "In my game show career, I've worked with TV stars, film stars, sports figures, legendary musicians and many ot

BuzzerVision: “Catch 21″ End Game

Fun end game on GSN's Catch 21 last night. Check it out below. I really like this show a lot, but if it comes back for a second season (which I'm really hoping it does), it could use a bit of help production wise. That set change from front game to end game is really jarring. But it's a very fun little game. GSN Radio Starts Monday Thumbnail

GSN Radio Starts Monday

Since the "Catch a Game" promos started, you may have noticed every now and then a plug for GSN Radio.  If you went to the Radio page any time before this week, you either got a "page did not exist" or a "coming soon" message.  Well, we finally have a premiere: August 18 (this Monday).  Starting at 1:00 EST, GSN will have four straight hours of games streaming online.  Bob Goen and Marianne Curan will host contests and games such as "The Birthday Game" and "Secret Sound?".  You can sign up now online or you can call 1-877-7-GSN-RADIO Monday morning.  You must have "caught" 21 to play (as in, you must be 21 or older).

Casino Programming Moved to Sundays on GSN Thumbnail

Casino Programming Moved to Sundays on GSN

Edit: I fixed the Sunday casino block schedule; sorry about the confusion, I overlooked that part in the original schedule excel file I was sent. World Poker Tour airs at 9:00PM ET and 1:00AM ET on Sundays.  The other time slots that evening are High Stakes Poker. GSN's been doing a lot of rearranging recently. First off, just a minor note that the Sunday decades specials called Laugh Out Loud have been newly titled Play It Back. Those schedules remain the same. However, starting on September 22nd, all casino programming will be gone from weekday time slots. Casino programming will only been seen on Sundays from 7:00PM to 3:00AM ET and that's just a mishmash of High Stakes Poker and World Poker Tour. WPT is on Sundays at 1AM ET and

“Wheel of Fortune” Crushes Summer Programming Thumbnail

“Wheel of Fortune” Crushes Summer Programming

Sony sent out an interesting press release recently.  Wheel of Fortune, if you follow television ratings at all, has been crushing most of the summer programming so far.  In all honesty, it crushes a lot of the fall programming as well.  It's gotten a 6.4 household ratings, which is only second to America's Got talent (excluding the Olympics which didn't start when the release came out), which got a 7.2.  It's averaging 46 million viewers for a week which is pretty staggering. I've always wondered why Wheel hasn't popped up in primetime television.  With the way networks are enjoying putting these classic half hour game shows in primetime for an hour, I would have figured Wheel of Fortune would have been a no brainer seeing the amount of

“Deal or No Deal” Next Season

Rumor Control: “Rich List” Revival

Thanks to the brilliant Brits at Bother's Bar for this bit of information today.  I enjoyed FOX's The Rich List when it was on for that one hour episode.  It got gobbled up by a total lack of faith from FOX, but deservedly so.  I think making it an h
