ABC’s Family Game Show Now Casting
I'm on vacation for the next few days, so hopefully the Password and The Mole show review post will pop up by itself, but we'll be back to normal news posts in a few days. I'm out of town seeing the comedy troupe Kids in the Hall and one of my favorite bands, The Breeders, so I hope you have as good of a weekend as I'll have. The primetime game show doesn't seem to be dead just yet. ABC is casting for their new Fall 2008 program, a home invasion block party game. They are actively searching for families with kids to take part in a show where the game literally comes to you, and if you're good enough you may be walking away with big money, fantastic prizes, or entire new rooms. Here's the notice. This is a fun new game show where w

CBS has been posting a few preview videos of Million Dollar Password on YouTube, so here's a small preview. I saw some of the debut episode and while it's not bad, it could definitely use some work. I still don't think the show works in a million dollar format and I just didn't feel the drama they tried to squeeze out of you.

Info comes courtesy from Hollywood Junket. We have some exclusive information on the syndicated edition of Deal or No Deal that you will only get from our two sites. First, here's the complete money chain: $0.01 $1,000 $1 $2,500 $5 $5,000 $10 $7,500 $25 $10,000 $50 $25,000 $100 $50,000 $200 $75,000 $300 $100,000 $400 $250,000 $500 $500,000 That is, in my opinion, the absolutely perfect chain you can have. It's perfectly balanced. The case selection is a tiny bit awkward, though. It's 5-5-4-2-2-1-1. Don't know why we didn't stick with England's 5-3-3-3-3-3 format, but whatever. This is a tiny gripe

Nick posted two weeks ago that he got his $50 from being an at-home winner on Bingo America. I won a week and a half later, on April 11, the night when the in-house contestant won $100,000. I was expecting my $50 shortly after Nick's check arrived. I kept waiting and waiting and waiting. Lo and behold, in the mail this afternoon was my $50 check. GSN said it would take 6 to 8 weeks. It took almost 7 weeks. (Then again, GSN said it would be 4 to 6 weeks for me to get my PlayMania money last year, yet that took less than 2 weeks.) In a nutshell, if you've been waiting for your Bingo America winnings for a month or more, you'll get it within a few weeks. If you're one of the naysayers who has gone on a certain cable network's messag

I always feel bad because I keep forgetting to plug this great blog. Over at About.com, they have started a game show blog whose head writer is Carrie, who actually comments here quite a bit. Be sure to check it out when you get a chance. It's a great site with a ton of great features like galleries, great writing, and a fantastic casting call page. Click here to visit it! As always you can find more of our friends in the FRIENDS section to the right.

I post this as rumor control, sadly, just because no official press release is out yet, but there are job postings around different entertainment sites looking for people to be involved in GSN Radio, GSN's new radio/streaming audio venture. And sadly that's all that's known right now. It sounds interesting, but I'm a bit confused by all of this. The network, while it's apparently doing pretty well, is in the middle of a major transition right now. I would think it would be better waiting for a radio network once the network's in top shape. But hey, we'll see how this one develops.

So yes, the show you all love to hate, The Moment of Truth, is back tonight at 8PM ET. We seem to have matching opinions on most shows, but I have a feeling this one will be different. Voice your opinions in our comments and give it your star rating. Network: FOX Airings: Tuesdays at 8:00PM ET Host(s): Mark Walberg Vote for how many stars you think the show deserves to the right, and then leave a comment! The Moment of Truth is the most controversial game show currently on TV. The contestant is asked over 50 questions prior to the show. 21 questions are asked, in the order of embarrassing to extremely personal. Each right answer gives the contestant more money and if all questions are answered correctly, the contestant wins $500,000. However, if a false answer is given at any time all money up to that point is lost. The family members that accompany the contestant can hit a button once during the game to change the question. As you can tell there will be very few posts this weekend because of hanging out with friends during the holiday weekend. It's beautiful in Pittsburgh this weekend. This will probably be it really, as I have about 10 minutes before I'm gone. I got a bit of news about the syndicated Deal or No Deal today. According to a blog post I read, the top prize is going to be $500,000, not the $250,000 initially planned. There are still 22 cases held by contestants, and only two models. No word on what the model's positions are. The contestant selection is really different as well: it's completely random. The selection is close to the process of the Deal Wheel, where each section the ball can land on corresponds to the case holder that gets to come down and play for the six figure top prize. The Banker is also said to be stingier but I'll be the judge of that. We're still waiting to hear officially from someone who was at the show. If you went to a taping, please comment somewhere on the site or email me. If you would like to see a taping, click here. Also, be sure to look out for a new way to sign up for the show and have the producers look

Just a slight rumor control for now. Craigslist is still casting for Hole in the Wall, FOX's new competition show, and it says the top prize you can win is $50,000. We'll see if this sticks around. I just see them shoving lifelines somewhere before we're all done.

You know, why have I never does these awards in the past? This one would be fun for all. I didn't get a chance to watch The Price is Right last night, but apparently there was a "memorable" "special" contestant. I have no problem with the excited jumping contestants, they make the show fun to watch. However, people like this? Maybe someone ran over him in the parking lot after the show aired. Of course by putting the clip of his pathetic bid run, he got what he wanted. You know he was just begging to be on YouTube with this stuff, so the poster gave him what he wanted. But regardless, take a look. Congrartulations, contestant. You are a douche bag.

Just to firmly establish the point that the summer rarely has any good shows on and you should really be outside enjoying yourselves instead of watching television, FOX greenlit the game show Hole in the Wall for 13 episodes. The show's basically human Tetris to some extent: just fit your body through hole in a wall that's coming at you rapidly. If you do it you move on. If you don't you fall into water. Cynopsis says that it's a hit in several foreign territories but I think they need to be aware that the show is not stand alone; it's part of a larger show because no one is that obsessed with television to watch an hour of this. But hey, if you think you can, watch the clip below eight times in a row.

Here's a note to NBC and everyone involved in American Gladiators. I love the show and it's exponentially better than season one. I think a vast majority of people are in agreement with that. However, there's one thing you decided to make crappier: the Eliminator. It's ten god damn minutes long. Way too long. It's mostly the fault of the Travelator. Can we seriously just not make it so speedy? Slow it down or something. But jesus christ, ten minutes? I know tapings are over, so if the show sees a season three, please work on that. It's basically the show's only issue.
