GSN Needs Contestants for New Game Show

(My spelling error to the right is fixed. I’m apparently drunk, sorry) With shows like Chain Reaction and Camouflage not looking like they are returning, GSN’s jumping back into the original bandwagon with a new show either called Nerve Center or How Much is Enough?. It’s called How Much Is Enough? on an email we were provided, so we’ll go with that for now. Though, to be honest, I much prefer Nerve Center. One of the biggest issues I’ve had with recent GSN shows is that they don’t follow the current trend in popular shows like Deal or No Deal. There’s something to be said that they’ve tried some decent brainy shows and different ideas, but you have to conform a tiny bit to get some of those viewers in. GSN’s finally doing that in this show which professes you need no knowledge or skill to win. I love quizzers like That’s The Question, but one Deal ripoff can get some viewers back. We still fully suggest Take It or Leave It, but this may do just fine. Here’s the posting.

The Game Show Network, and BBC Worldwide the Producers of “Dancing With the Stars”, and “Grease: You’re The One That I Want” bring the new game show How Much Is Enough.

Do you have what it takes to psych out the competition and walk away victorious? Do you know just the right time to push for more and when to play it safe? –

How Much Is Enough is the new game show that tests a contestant’s ability to determine how much is enough, and when do you keep pushing for more? Four contestants are placed against one another in a high stakes game if chicken. There is no trivia or skill involved at all!

The winner will go home with the cold hard cash!

To audition for How Much is Enough you must:

• Be over 18 yrs old
• Live in Southern California, or able to get to Los Angeles for an audition and taping day.
• Send your picture, brief bio and contact info to: Howmuchisenoughcasting@gmail.com
• If you have appeared on other game shows please do not submit

If chosen for an audition, casting will contact you directly to schedule an interview.

GSN Makes Statement About “Quiznation” Cancelation

GSN representatives just emailed us a statement they made about the cancelation of Quiznation. I thought this may interest those of you who enjoy it.

Dear PlayManiacs,

We have greatly appreciated your support of our PlayMania efforts over the last 19 months; it’s been an amazing experience and we’re glad to see that you’ve enjoyed playing along. It goes without saying that we’ve learned much from your feedback (so keep it coming) and while it’s true that quiznation’s last night will be October 31, we have even bigger and better participation opportunities in store for you all in the coming months. As soon as we’ve set all the details, you’ll be the first to know. We’d say more, but we don’t want to spoil the surprises.

Sincerely,

Your Friends at GSN

Rumor Control: Embassy Row Picks Up “Newlywed Game”?

We haven’t done a Rumor Control in a while. We’ve seen lots of postings recently for contestants needed for The Newlywed Game. We were looking at Craigslist today and spotted one with the email of @embassyrow.com. Has Michael Davies gone game crazy and picked this show up too? Honestly, I’m not a fan of this show at all and I’m hoping there’s some misunderstanding, but who knows.

Edit: We just found enough information to make this a major story. Apparently he picked up The Dating Game too. Didn’t this happen in the early 90s? Some company remade both of the shows? I can’t quite remember. Anyway, if you want to be a contestant for what is probably a pilot of The Dating Game or The Newlywed Game for what I’m guessing is GSN (could be wrong), click here for Daters or here for Newlyweds.

Davies Takes “Hold Onto Your Seat”

Michael Davies and Embassy Row have snatched up the rights to the French quizzer Hold Onto Your Seat which hopefully will have a better name if anything is done with it in America. In the show, five challengers try to unseat a reigning champion, who has a number of advantages in the game. The latest champion remained on the air for five weeks. “It is so rare to see something in the game show format that is so inherently stylish,” Davies said. “This game show could only have been created in France; it’s like the Chanel of daytime game shows.”

“Crosswords” Changes from Chicago Auditions

Thanks to reader Tom Jetland who informed us of a few changes coming in some newer episodes of Crosswords taken from the Chicago auditions.  First off, the cheap Crosswords Getaways are gone.  So I’m sorry to depress you, but no more trips to the Holiday Inn, you know, the one down the street.  Second, there are five Crosswords Extras involved, so a lot more money is available in the main game.  And finally, the show is finally up to par with a GSN budget.  The bonus prize is $5,000 plus a trip.  We’ve also heard mumblings that some rules involving the Spoilers changed, but we’ll see.

Playmania Cancelled

Following the October 31st edition of Playmania/Quiznation, the show will be no more as GSN has cancelled what used to be a really good show. The show really started to slip when they decided that doing pretty much 3 games a show was better than 10 games a show. This transition happened after the Goddess Mel Peachey left the show back in April.

Replacing the two hour block is another two hour block of…you guessed it! Reruns! At 12am we get some fun Who Wants to Be a Millionaire which I’m sure everyone is excited for. But then the actual good news starts as for 5 days a week, 1am to 2am consists of Trivia Trap and Now You See It. This may be a good step in the right direction for GSN. But it’s probably just some filler until they find something better to fill it with.

Ratings Update

The ratings page has been updated for the past week.  Sorry for the lack of Fifth Grader ratings; we’ve been having issues finding them.  There has been good news for Deal, though.  The ratings have been steadily increasing and if it can keep this up, it looks like we’ll see a fourth primetime series.  Singing Bee is on its last legs, though.  It’s at a pretty low level and seems to be on a stand still.  They moved its time slot so it can compete better, and it’s not proving itself.  Syndication is up as well except for Millionaire for some reason.  We might be seeing 1 VS 100 soon as well.  Friday Night Lights is doing very poorly Fridays at 9PM ET.  For how expensive it is to make, it would be safer just to place the reliable 1 VS 100 there and make it a game night.
