Aussie “Temptation” Axed for Daily “Millionaire”
Thanks to reader Dan M. for this link. The Australian edition of Temptation, which is being syndicated in the USA starting September 10th, has been canceled in favor of a weeknight return of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?. No word if it's the good regular version or the "eh" new British edition. It will be on the shelf for at least the rest of the year, which means if daily Millionaire with returning host Eddie McGuire bombs, we might be seeing Temptation back on the air. The Millionaire season is to be 40 episodes currently. The decision to bring Millionaire back was necessary to "keep the rights to the show alive", Nine sources said yesterday. I'm very sorry, everyone. I went to a roller derby game and went to see Clockwork Orange tonight so I completely spaced out about Grand Slam today saw games Brad Rutter VS Ogi Ogas and Leszek Pawlowicz VS David Legler. This is where I'm stumped. I can call that Pawlowicz beats Legler, but I have no idea with Rutter VS Ogas. Both are very smart. The only advantage I could call on Rutter is that he has the speed thing down, but apparently Ogas does as well. I don't know why, but I have a slight hunch Mr. Ogi Ogas wins it. What did you think of the episode?

If you've been looking around at basically any game show forum, you may be one of the senders of the many many many emails regarding the new The Price is Right doors and logo. All in all it looks incredibly nice looking; better than I've seen in my time. Take a look at the picture below, courtesy of someone from Facebook.

With a new season of NBC's Deal or No Deal comes a few set changes, as with most shows on television. Interestingly, this season isn't that much. We mainly have a few lighting changes, including some white light on the model's stairs, new colors for their stairs, and new neon lighting below the Banker's booth. The biggest change seems to be an all new Banker booth. The images we are providing come from the Donald Trump season premiere game on September 17th.

TheFutonCritic.com reports that NBC will preview Merv Griffin's Crosswords at 8:30 PM Eastern/7:30 PM Central on Saturday, September 8, following the network's fall preview special. This makes the second primetime game show preview of that week, following Temptation's back-to-back episode preview on MyNetworkTV on Wednesday, September 5. I've heard at least one market has no affiliates showing either show. At least that market and possibly others have a chance to see the new offerings.

Power of 10 has been a fantastic reminder that game shows don't need to give away hundreds of thousands of dollars every night to be exciting, engaging, and entertaining. That being said, be expecting a millionaire soon on NBC's next season of Deal or No Deal. The new season will kick off on Monday, September 17th with Donald Trump guest starring with an additional episode on Wednesday, September 19th before settling into its new time slots of Wednesdays and Fridays starting September 26th (poor 1 VS 100). What are the catches you ask? You know Endemol too well. On the debut episode, Nashville contestant DiBiase will play, but the Banker is still on Summer vacation. For the first time, a guest Banker will be present and that will be

<>It's about time we found some information about the sixth season of the syndicated edition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, isn't it? Not much has changed, but we do have a new themed week: TV week. According to a source who tried out, the test quizzed you on subjects all across the board; with shows like Lost, The Office, Beverly Hills 90210, Wonder Years, and more. A good deal of it apparently was recent television trivia, though. I'd be willing to bet once we get to the third tier some more of the obscure television trivia will be thrown in. Dennis Miller would probably fit in perfectly (as long as it would keep him away from Grand Slam). You can audition for the TV week on August 28th at 29th. Not only that, we have some r

Is it even a shock when FOX buys some absolutely stupid premise for a game show? We haven't had one of these in a while: it's time for a BuzzerBlog flashback. If you were one of our two readers back in our Blogger days, you might remember when NBC was shooting a pilot for a lie detector game show called Nothing But the Truth. In the show, contestants are asked 21 personal questions, and each one answered correctly adds more money to their bank. Contestants can walk with their money after hearing a category, like "Infidelity". Sounds like a classy show, doesn't it? That's why NBC passed on it and FOX picked it up. FOX is looking at a potential Fall release. And I still do really miss The Chair. So let's see, FOX passes on Withou

Big Edit: Someone from an early taping recently commented, and there are a few differences in the rules for them. Did they switch rules after a few weeks? You be the judge; click here. A source who wished to remain anonymous supplied us with the rules for Merv Griffin's Crosswords, which debuts Monday, September 10th, across the country. It's looking pretty good; here they are: Two contestants start with a full puzzle on the board. They get a clue to one of the words given. The player that buzzes in and answers correctly gets $100. At some points there will be a "Crossword Getaway", where a right answer adds a trip to your total. Also included is a "Crossword Extra", where the person who answers correctly can bet as much of their w

We'll have a full report later this week from British correspondent David Howell, but the original version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, nearing its tenth year, will be getting some new rules. Shockingly, the format is being cut to twelve questions with the new money chain going 500, 1000 * 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000, 50000 * 75000, 150000, 250000, 500000, 1M. It just looks and feels incredibly awkward, especially with the 2/5/5 format. Also, the show is supposedly getting updated music and graphics. Why you would rather drastically change arguably the most popular game show on earth is beyond me. At least I know Michael Davies has enough sense to fight the change if it's even thought of for the US syndicated edition.
