People who were outraged about GSN's upcoming show Double or Nothing can breathe a sigh of relief. According to the show's site, it's just going to be a one-time two-hour special at an unspecified time. You can still be a contestant, though. If you are over 21, single, and want to sell everything you have and try to double it by one bet on a roulette wheel, either red or black, click here. Double or Nothing will most likely be announced in July's TCA. By the way, we just found out FOX Reality Channel passed on this show. Hey, at least we have Camouflage, Grand Slam, Without Prejudice?, and the probable That's The Question second season.

GSN recently supplied us with a copy of their new original word game Camouflage, and I am happy to say that they have redeemed themselves after Chain Reaction. We'll get into the superfluous information and praise/complaints in a bit, but here's a very quick look into the rules.A Scrabble like clue is given and the answer is literally before the contestants eyes, spelled correctly from left to right. However, extra decoy letters are thrown in making it tough to locate the answer. A letter drops out every second, and with each removed letter the point value drops by 10. The sooner a contestant buzzes in and answers correctly, the more points they get. If a contestant answers incorrectly, no points are given or taken away. One puzzle in each round is deemed the "Double Camouflage" puzzle. After someone answers correctly, they are given the chance to double their points if they get another puzzle from the answer given in 10 seconds. There is no penalty for wrong guesses, and they have unlimited guesses in the 10 seconds. Click below to read more. (more...)

The karaoke wars are officially on. NBC served up a televised bitch slap to FOX by rushing their new singing show, The Singing Bee, to air on July 10th following America's Got Talent. No word on the host or top prize yet, but we're hearing you can win somewhere around $100,000 (at least on the pilot). Let's see the rules of both shows. The Singing Bee: Contestants hear the house band play a song. Lyrics will also appear on a screen. Contestants have to sing along. When the music stops and lyrics end, the contestants have to continue to sing. Each one right wins a prize.Don't Forget the Lyrics!: Contestants hear the house band play a song. Lyrics will also appear on a screen. Contestants have to sing along. When the music stops and lyrics end, the contestants have to continue to sing. Each one right wins a prize. We're in for a very fun time soon. If there is any good news to come from this, it's that we might have an uninterrupted Fall of 1 VS 100. I'm crossing my fingers for this.

I seriously can't wait until the new season of The Price is Right starts so we don't have to write about the host debacle anymore. If you read a few posts ago, Bob Barker apparently endorsed Rosie O'Donnell to be the next host of The Price is Right. Just kidding! Barker is now saying that he didn't endorse Rosie at all. "I have not been asked for my opinion, nor have I expressed one," Barker said. "I think there are several candidates who could do the show, and Rosie is certainly one of them." Barker stressed Wednesday that he never meant to imply she was his top pick to replace him. It would be "terribly presumptuous," he added, to assume he would have any impact on the host selection. OK, I think it's now time to break a happy pill in Uncle Bob's coffee and put him in the corner for a few days. There are apparently two more candidates to host The Price is Right as well: Ian Ziering, from Beverly Hills 90210 and The Drew Carey Show star/Whose Line is it Anyway host Drew Carey. I have never seen Ziering in my life, so I have no opinion about him. Maybe this whole hoopla has made my senses die, but I don't think Drew Carey would be a horrible fit. He's a lot better than 90% of the candidates they've tried so far. According to AP, hosts still in the running are Todd Newton, Mark Steines, George Hamilton, and (our official pick) John O'Hurley who began taping a new season of Family Feud today.

The original British edition of the hit game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire? might be facing cancellation, according to host Chris Tarrant. The show, which launched in 1998, was stripped weekly and saw audiences as high as 13 million viewers. It is now in a regular Saturday time slot and gets around 3.1 million viewers per episode. Host Chris Tarrant has stated, “Of course, next year is our tenth anniversary and we may play about with it, we might move it off Saturday nights . . . or it might be a good place to stop.” One idea which has also been tossed around is moving the show to a 5PM weekday time slot. ITV is denying the cancellation claim, though. Chris Tarrant has signed on to host a bluffing quiz show opposite Deal or No Deal. To our UK friends: do you think if Millionaire adopted a US style of show, which is basically lowering some parts of the chain a bit and making the game really hard, they could have some new success versus Deal or No Deal?

Popular cable network BET is getting into the interactive game show business with their new late-night show "Taking the Cake". Produced by Endemol, the show blends a game show and a talk show starting July 9th at 11PM ET and will air for the next few months. The show will allow viewers to play along online or on their cell phone by texting. "It's a different way of approaching late-night," BET president of entertainment Reginald Hudlin said. "The bulk of our development efforts have been devoted to primetime, but now it's time to look at other dayparts." Endemol collaborated for a similar late-night series with TBS last year. Midnight Money Madness received an eight-week trial that began in August; TBS declined to pick it up for additional episodes.

If you notice the site doing weird stuff today, our apologies. We're attempting to get the new website online and we're having issues. We're seeing shades of the Chair/Chamber situation with singing game shows. Hot on the trail of NBC's Singing Bee, FOX is rushing Don't Forget the Lyrics to air. The Wayne Brady hosted show will debut on July 11th at 9:30PM ET and its second episode is July 12th at 8:30PM ET. On the show, contestants will have to sing along to the show's band while lyrics are displayed on a large screen. The contestant will have to continue to sing when the music and lyrics stop. After each right lyric, the contestant has the option to stop the game. However, if they can answer all 10, they win $1,000,000. In the pilot, two "Helplines" were used. For more pilot information, click here. Also debuting this summer is CBS's Power of 10. The show sees contestants predicting the percentage of people to answer a topical survey question. The first right answer gives the contestant $1,000. Each right answer after that multiplies their money by ten, making the top prize $10,000,000 for five right answers. The Drew Carey hosted show from Embassy Row will debut Tuesday, August 7th, at 8PM ET before settling into its position of Wednesdays at 8PM ET the following night. Taping will start in mid July. Any pre-airing thoughts about either of these shows? Don't Forget the Lyrics is going to be polarizing f

My email account was flooded with Playmaniacs who were either joyous or (for the vast majority of them) upset about 100 Winners, from GSN's Playmania, not being on the schedule anymore. We have an answer from GSN, so take a chill pill, everyone. The GSN vault is currently taking a bit of a hiatus. It's not canceled. To quote what we were told: "The show is taking a little break at the moment. In the meantime, we’re trying new things on “quiznation” that will keep the show fresh for the audience. They’ll notice new games and surprises all the time." So there you have it. Keep watching, as new things will be happening all the time.

Five new DVD game updates for you. First, we have received word that the Press Your Luck DVD game can now be found at local s Blockbuster stores. A quick check reveals that it's also available at Amazon for $19.95, a savings of four cents off the original price. Whoopee. While peeking around at Amazon, we also found information on these next four games: A big surprise on this one: the Family Feud 3rd Edition DVD is OUT!!! It's available at Amazon for $19.99, and, surprisingly, the ONLY change on the box art from the previous two editions is that O'Hurley's on there now. Whoop-dee-doo. Two other DVD games coming out in July include Jeopardy and Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, selling for $49.99 and $23.99, respectively. Both are set to be released in early July, according to Amazon. And the final game, of which we have no idea when it will be released, is the 1 vs. 100 DVD. This one can be preordered for $19.99 at Amazon. It will be made by Mattel, so we're expecting something as good, if not better, than the tabletop game. I want to encourage you, if you do see PYL or Feud somewhere, please let us know by commenting. I will also try my best to check a few stores tomorrow, and report back on any findings.
