“Singing Bee” Seeks Contestants

Be expecting quite a few casting notices coming in.  NBC has now begun looking for contestants for their new Fall game show The Singing Bee.  In the show, contestants will have to sing the lyrics to popular songs in karaoke style.  The music still stop sometimes, but the contestant still has to sing.  If you wanted to apply for Don't Forget the Lyrics but was repulsed by the smell of Rupert Murdoch, click here.

Deal or No Deal Recap for 5/22/07 Thumbnail

Deal or No Deal Recap for 5/22/07

Last night was a hero themed episode because of the Heroes season finale which was pretty sweet if you watched it. Real life hero Wesley Autrey, Sr., saved a man who fell on the tracks in a New York subway station by placing him between the tracks and laying over top of him as trains went over. I'm not usually a fan of stunts and stunt casting, but this is one I was happy about; he deserved it. He was invited to play the game and try for $1,000,000. To preface this, we haven't had a $100,000 win, which is rather average for this show, since April 23rd and we haven't had a big win of more than $200,000 since March 5th by our stats. Can he break the streak? Read below for the results + commentary. Please tell us what you thought about his game.  FYI: Deal or No Deal season finale is June 18th. (more...)

GSN says “Show Me the Money” Thumbnail

GSN says “Show Me the Money”

GSN's picked up Show Me the Money the "hit" show hosted by William Shatner. The show will be rerun to death Tuesdays at 8/7c starting June 12, with two never-before-seen episodes on July 17 and 24.  There are seven episodes total.  On Show Me the Money, contestants had to answer trivia questions of various difficulty. After answering, they must pick one of thirteen scrolls. A right answer added the money, up to $250,000, to their bank with a wrong answer subtracting it. If the player gets the Killer Card, the player's money is at risk as the next answer must be answered correctly or it's game over. The show started out relatively strong with a 7.3 but eventually fell to a 4.4/7. I have to say, after I have been exposed to Bingo Night, I'll gladly watch this any day of the week over that. At least there's a tiny bit more gameplay than pressing a button after making a 50/50 decision with nothing at stake. At least there's also a tiny bit of bra

FOX Casts “Don’t Forget the Lyrics”

A while back we vented about FOX ripping off yet another game show. FOX has now started casting that ripoff under the title Don't Forget the Lyrics which ties Let's Do Crosswords in terms of horrible titles. The songs are from the 60s and onward, so if you can sing like a wild person in public for $1,000,000, click here.

“Bingo Night” Bombs

We might be on the road to our second one-and-gone game show of the season. National Bingo Night scored a 3.7/7 on its debut. That's about a point to a point and a half worse than Show Me the Money's final episode. If the show survives another episode or two I will be amazed. They will do better with a rerun of Grey's Anatomy reruns, and I can't even stand the show. You know, I won't gloat about how I and others were right about this show's failure, but did ABC actually think Bingo would be popular? We expect a cancelation notice within the next few days. If not, I'll be utterly shocked. I know people have to get angry with me constantly mentioning this, but I will just never understand why they won't bring back Super Millionaire. They apparently want a game show. Every single Deal or No Deal clone has bombed. Millionaire wasn't blowing the socks off of the ratings when it came back three years ago, but it easily helds its own and would

Review: “National Bingo Night” Thumbnail

Review: “National Bingo Night”

Shows like National Bingo Night come once in a lifetime. It's one of those shows that needs to be marked in the record books. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a show that makes Deal or No Deal look like Jeopardy!. In this show, three contestants will play during the hour long show. They will play various Bingo games while the audience marks off all balls that are selected. If the udience gets a Bingo before the player, the player leaves with nothing and the audience members win the house jackpot of $5,000. In reality, all of the games are a 50/50 chance of the player being right. It's a pick of one or the other. I never thought I'd honestly see a show that makes Deal or No Deal look like Jeopardy!. It's mind-blowing. This show has not a tiny bit of actual risk that causes thought. Every show should have some level of risk. Right now a player just says "Choice A!" or "Choice B!", a total 50/50 chance, press a button, and hope it works out wel

Reminder: “National Bingo Night” Deb….zzzzzzzzz Thumbnail

Reminder: “National Bingo Night” Deb….zzzzzzzzz

Sorry, I fell asleep after watching the DVD again. If watching people play Bingo is your thing then you'll get a kick out of the debut of National Bingo Night tonight at 9PM ET on ABC. At least in game one, one contestant has to guess if the next ball is higher or lower than the last one with a right answer making the number on the ball worth points added to the player's score. If the player gets 500 points, that player wins $50,000 and possibly prizes. However, the audience will play regular Bingo with all numbers open. If an audience member gets a Bingo, the audience member gets the house jackpot of $5,000 and the contestant loses. There will be more games thrown in, but at least for me it was still one of the most boring things I've ever had to experience. You may enjoy printing Bingo cards out from ABC's website here. Good luck and be sure to tell us what you think. We'll post a full review later tonight.

Bob Barker Primetime Specials Score Big for CBS Thumbnail

Bob Barker Primetime Specials Score Big for CBS

The ratings are in and the public has proven that Bob Barker and The Price is Right are forces to be reckoned with. Wednesday night's Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular scored a 9.0/15 at 8PM ET which easily won its time slot. It was also the second most watched television show on Wednesday primetime only losing to the music bastardizing show that is American Idol. The ratings improved on Thursday night with a mini episode of The Price is Right mixed with a tribute to Bob Barker. Thursday night at 8PM ET achieved an 9.4/16 which won its time slot and only lost to Grey's Anatomy and CSI. Last night's special was much better than the million dollar episode if you ask me. I'm not a huge fan of The Price is Right but I do fully respect Barker for the legend that he is and it was a very touching tribute episode.

Aussie 1 VS 100′s Eddie McGuire Resigns as Nine’s Chief

Bloomberg has announced that the host of the Australian version of 1 VS 100, Eddie McGuire, has resigned from his position of chief executive officer of Australian network Nine.  Nine is set to lose its title as the most watched network to Seven partly because of their Dancing With the Stars and Desperate Housewives.  McGuire currently hosts 1 VS 100 which is Nine's most popular show and Australia's 14th most popular show.  Before becoming chief executive officer he was the host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire which is rumored to be coming back sometime later this year.  McGuire is expected to play a bigger on air role than he previously did.

WeDigTV Launches “Price is Right” Broadband Thumbnail

WeDigTV Launches “Price is Right” Broadband

It's not the US version, but trust me, the UK version is close enough. The amazing WeDigTV has launched an absolutely amazing broadband version of The Price is Right based off the newest UK edition with host Joe Pasquale. Come on down to contestants row and bid on various small prices. Be the closest without going over and you get to play one of many many pricing games such as Safe Cracker, Any Number, and more. After all three rounds are over, you get to spin the Showcase Showdown wheel and get over a certain point threshold that lowers the more pricing games you win. Get over the threshold and play the Showcase. The Showcase is different than our version. In this version you push a button to get a certain pound range you can be away from the total price of your showcase. If you can get within the range without going over you win your Showcase. It's a boatload of fun and very impressive with amazing graphics and video clips from the actual sh

“Fifth Grader” Renewed for New Season

Like it or hate it, it's coming back.  FOX's Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? has officially been renewed for a second season of contestants figuring out which hand is right and which is left.  The show will air in the Fall and tentatively in the Spring on Fridays at 8PM ET. And other good news that I enjoy, Family Guy stays at 9PM on Friday.  Hooray.

“Without Prejudice?” Pictures

GSN released the first pictures from their new series Without Prejudice?, which is sure to be amazing. Click below to see the first pictures released to the public. This is our new photo gallery system. Click the thumbnail to increase it and then click the X to close it. We do this so you can get a larger copy of the picture and a better look. What do you think of the look of the show? It's perfect from my viewpoint. The show is modern while keeping the tense and boardroom like feel to it. I can't think of a better set in my mind.

Reminder: “Price is Right” in Primetime Tonight Thumbnail

Reminder: “Price is Right” in Primetime Tonight

Tonight is the beginning of the end, I suppose.  On CBS tonight at 8PM ET will be Bob Barker's final primetime The Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular.  Watch as someone will hopefully get to spin for $1,000,000 on the Big Wheel.  Also, be on the lookout for some very very popular games played for very very big prizes.  Not only that, tomorrow at 8PM ET on CBS will also be celebrating Bob Barker as the longtime host reminisces about his 50 years in television.  Bob Barker's final daytime Price is Right will be taping within the next few weeks.  I don't know if we've ever discussed this here before, but I'm curious.  How do you all feel about Bob Barker?  Also, do you think Price is Right can last without him?  If you don't mind, let's leave the debate about who should be the new host out of this one.  Let's just talk about the current television legend that is Barker.  Positive or negative, I'd love to hear what you feel.

Housekeeping on BuzzerBlog

If you notice some things are different on BuzzerBlog, we are sorry for the quick change. The category list was roughly a million miles long so we had to find an alternative for it. For the category menu on the right, click on the icon next to one of the major headers and other items will drop down. We hope this is easier and more organized than the last mess. You can now contact us much easier.  Click on the "Contact Buzzer" feature on the right and type your information and message into the boxes.  We will answer you as soon as we conceivably can. We've also added two other features on the right sidebar. Because our comment feature has become very popular suddenly, these new features will hopefully make finding where to comment easier. "HEADLINES" displays our most recent topics. If you click on one you will be taken direcetly to that topic and able to read comments and more. Also, below that is the feature "BUZZ IN" which displays the mos
