Rumor Control: Nick@Nite Starts New Game Show?

This one comes from Craigslist. They are looking for families (10 and older to compete) to play in a new game show. It takes place in their house with their family with prizes involved. The interesting part is that we’re seeing that the show is called Bet the House. We’ll try to find out more, because if this was announced somewhere before, I totally missed it.

“The Great American Dream Vote” Canceled

This season has been a season of very short runs for shows that aren’t doing that well.  ABC’s wish fulfillment show, The Great American Dream Vote has been canceled after two episodes.  It was so close to being tied with a show that didn’t deserve to be canceled, The Rich List, which lasted one episode.  Of course ABC is saying it can come back, but we’ll believe it when we see it.  Hey, Name That Tune fans: it clears Donny Osmond up for that show again at least.  Donny Osmond, host of Dream Vote, is also hosting Pyramid in England, where they seem to have fixed many things, like allowing returning contestants (If you climb the Pyramid twice in one show) plus 7 in 30, and we’ve heard the show is quite good period.  Now why couldn’t we get a decent revival of the perfect game show?

Confirmed: GSN Picks Up “Camouflage” for 40 Episodes

It’s official now: GSN today announced the pickup of a new word game “Camouflage”. From Disney, the show is a game of word games, clues, and hidden answers and is going to have a 40 episode season. No word on a host yet. The show is set to begin production in May and will debut sometime in July. The show will give a clue a-la “Scrabble” (the TV version) that requires an answer that is hidden by a group of needless letters. If you read it left to right you can see the word, though. Letters will drop out as time goes on, but at the same time the point value does, so you have to be quick. For example, one puzzle word might be “LAPTOPICFLOORING,” with the clue “kitchen explosive.” Dropping the appropriate letters and reading left to right, “popcorn” is revealed as the hidden word. The show might air in an early slot such as 7:00PM ET, to be paired with “Lingo”.

More info about “National Bingo Night”

Just a quickie about “National Bingo Night.” The show will take place in the “Bingo Plex Arena,” which features a two-story tumbler. Also, the format looks to be VERY similar to 1 vs 100: one person will be pitted against the audience. If the player gets a BINGO before the audience, he or she wins the money. If ONE person in the audience gets BINGO first, the audience wins the money. More information is available on the ABC webpage.

Looks like ABC has some big balls on their hands.

Reminder: New Season of “Lingo” Debuts Next Monday

This is just a quick reminder to be sure to check out the sixth season of Lingo which debuts next Monday, April 2nd, at 7:30PM ET.  No big changes are being made this season except for the fact that we’re hearing there are two stoppers in each hopper, not three.  This season will yet again feature the online Lingo tournament winners facing off against some of the best teams the show has had, including our good friend Robert McKee.  The newest online tournament will begin April 2nd as well, where you can play Lingo online for a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles and appear on the show.  Also, GSN will be starting a Lingo podcast in May, so be on the lookout for that.  Lingo is hosted by Chuck Woolery and Shandi Finnessey.

Bravo Orders Pilot for Paycheck

Bravo is getting back into the game show business by ordering a pilot for a new psychological game show called Paycheck.  The show revolves around seven contestants identifying their opponent’s salaries.  Contestants that can do this win $25,000.  Clues will be given to further them along based on pop culture, observations about their opponents, surprising and revealing “factoids” about the others, and their own intuition.  Bravo’s only popular game show is Celebrity Poker Showdown which is apparently and regretfully canceled, although they did air one episode of Celebrity PoolPaycheck is based on a UK format, so our British friends, you apparently have a pilot.

Are US producers just saying that things are based off of a UK format just to get more attention now?  I could have a friend in Uganda that helps me make a format.  If I do, I’m saying that it’s a new exciting format from Uganda.

“Indecision” Shoots Pilot for GSN Today

Today, GSN is shooting a pilot for yet another one of their shows in development announced at the Television Critics Association. Here is the description of the show, courtesy of GSN.

From Laurelwood Entertainment, INDECISION is an exciting, new variety game show that combines the surprises and drama of a talk show with the thrill of a game. INDECISION features one contestant making nine decisions that could change his/her life forever - everything about this show rests on the decisions made by the contestant. Decisions can be based on anything, include receiving gifts, giving charity donations, surprising friends, or even potentially humiliating your boss. Someone will walk away with a small fortune in every episode of INDECISION, but an added twist is that the winner might not always be the contestant. It could be a friend, an enemy, a husband or even a perfect stranger, such as a member of the studio audience. Executive producer: Phil Gurin (LINGO, Miss USA, Weakest Link) of Laurelwood Entertainment.

Phil Gurin is also taping the pilot for “Wanna Bet?” on Friday.

Rumor Control: GSN Picks Up “Camouflage”?

We can’t 100% confirm it just yet, but we’re hearing from people connected to GSN that “Camouflage” has been picked up. “Camouflage” was one of the shows announced for development during the Television Critics Associated event. From Buena Vista Productions, this fast paced word game makes contestants find hidden words from a word puzzle, but there are extra letters in it. For instance, if you are given BRAINCHUORIC and the clue is “Newsperson”, reading the puzzle left to right reveals the word “ANCHOR” when you say it. Even more, we’re hearing it is going to tape from the beginning of April to the end of May. Once more official information comes in we will tell you.
