Jeopardy’s website will hold an online test for kids between the ages of 10-12 (born between September 1, 1994 and September 1, 1997) and who also meet all other eligibility requirements. The test will take place on Tuesday, March 20 at 7:30 PM EST for all time zones.
If you know of a child that wants to be on the show, have their parent or guardian sign them up here.
Reader Tom Beeman has informed us that TVTix told audience members who signed up for Mike Richard’s test run of “The Price is Right” was caneled. Richards was supposed to try out on Wednesday, February 28th, at 2:45PM. No make-up is scheduled as of now, but we’ll let you know if something comes up.
One press release about Let’s Play Crosswords states that the show will tape in high definition, making it the third game show and third syndicated show to do so. I’m getting my hopes up already.
Former Miss USA and current co-host of GSN’s “Lingo” and “Ultimate Blackjack Tour” AND host of GSN’s “Quiznation” Shandi Finnessey has something to make her schedule even crazier: Shandi will be appearing in the 4th season of ABC’s hit competition show “Dancing With the Stars”. She will be facing off against such people as Leeza Gibbons, Heather Mills, Laila Ali, Billy Ray Cyrus, and more. The new season will premiere March 19th on ABC.
Cynopsis announced that Merv Griffin’s new game show venture, “Let’s Play Crosswords” has cleared by NBC O&O’s (owned and operated stations) in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Dallas as part of a new deal with the show. The new deal involves NBCU Domestic Television Distribution to represent national barter advertising sales and the entities to jointly create a broadband component for the NBC stations’ web sites. As of now, it’s looking like it’ll tape in WMAQ in Chicago, but plans are still up in the air. Check back to BuzzerBlog often as we’ll have exclusive reports about “Let’s Play Crosswords” in the future that you can’t get anywhere else but here.
GSN’s dipping back into the news for a topical game. This one is about the crazy diaper wearing astronaut and is entitled “Astronaut Moonstalker”. The game, “Astronaut Moonstalker,” features an animated astronaut in a space lander. The lander floats and maneuvers at the hands of the online player. The goal of the game is to navigate the space lander through caverns to collect items for points before successfully landing. If the lander touches down correctly, it terminates the “Love Fest” of the other “happy” astronaut couple. Mission accomplished. You can find the game by clicking here.
The executive producer of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, Michael Davies, and his company Embassy Row (”Chain Reaction”) are developing a new game show CBS entitled “The Power of 10″. Not much is known about the show, but this is taken directly from the contestant application form:
“The Power of 10 is a unique new game show challenging contestants to see how well they know what Americans think. We’ll poll an enormous cross-section of the American population on the nation’s hottest topics, and the contestant most in synch with America can win unprecedented sums of money.”
I love Embassy Row, but isn’t this a bit like “Family Feud”, or how it’s turning out I should say “Super Family Feud”. However, at least it’s not going to be a “Deal or No Deal” clone or a show capitalizing on the stupidity of contestants, so this one could and probably will turn out very nice. If you’re 18 and you’d like to participate, please click here.
The British are stealing an idea from us I see. The UK Banker for “Deal or No Deal” has started a blog. It’s on MySpace, but it’s a blog nonetheless. Check it out. They are sure to mention our very good friends at Bother’s Bar.
“Russian Roulette” creator and executive producer Gunnar Wetterberg has added even more videos to an already impressive lineup. He uploaded a few full episodes plus a look at Lost’s Jorge Garcia’s appearance on the show. You know, I’m a huge fan of the double R, and I completely forgot Garcia was on it. Take a look. *sigh* We have shows like this and yet we are subjected to Karn “Family Feud”.r
Thanks to reader Chris for tipping us off to this a few days ago (sorry, things have been a bit busy). Ion, the old i and the old old PAX, are apparently letting people vote for shows which can air on the network, and one of the choices is shockingly the classic episodes of “Lingo”. If you’d like to vote and have a shot at seeing them, click here. Wonder if GSN ever considered picking them up, or are they afraid of having people find out that the new one, while it is pretty good and enjoyable, isn’t as good as the classic?
