“1 vs. 100″ News: Game 1 Played for $3,000,000 THIS FRIDAY

NBC provided Buzzer with lots of “1 vs. 100″ news.  First off, the first contestant on the season premiere, Jay Stakelon of Allentown, PA, will be going against the mob for the original prize of “1 vs. 100″: $3,000,000.  In the mob that day will be “rapper” Kevin Federline (Any money he gets off of 1vs100 will be more than he gets off Spears), cast members from the NBC show “Las Vegas”, and poker hottie Annie Duke.  Next game, Paula Russell from Chicago will play for the regular $1,000,000.  This will make game show fans happy: In the mob that day will be GSN’s “Telethon” (pilot) host Wink Martindale and “Newlywed Game” host Bob Eubanks.  The $10,000 text competition remains, and it’s not known if any game play changes will occur, but we wouldn’t count on it.

REMINDER: “1 vs. 100″ BEGINS A NEW SERIES OF 10 EPISODE THIS FRIDAY AT 8PM ET

Rumor Control: Jim Cramer Game Show Coming Soon?

Let’s step in the Buzzer flashback machine.  Take a look at this post.  If you didn’t care to, back in January 2006, we announced that Jim Cramer was developing a game/reality show where a group of contestants receiving money and investing it.  The person with the most money at the end of the show wins.  Now look at this Craigslist post.  It looks extremely similar, doesn’t it?  If I were betting money, I’d say this is it, but I’ve been wrong a ton.  We’ll keep you posted on this story as more comes in.

“Show Me the Money” Sinks in Ratings Again

On what ABC called the “series premiere” and what a person with active brainwaves calls the second episode, “Show Me the Money” sunk down again, this time to a 5.2/9 on the Wednesday episode. This is down from the overall official 8.3/13 it achieved on its Tuesday November 14th premiere date. However, in an attempt to keep people at bay, I’ll cut it slack once more. This was a holiday weekend and people were traveling, so who knows what will happen. Next week, a regular week, will be a true decider of the show’s fate. If it slips again, I don’t think we’ll be shown the money again.

By the way, as I promised, I gave the show one more shot (before I left for a movie) on Wednesday, and I just couldn’t take it. My opinion stays the same. Any of yours change?

Home Game News

We have quite a bit of home game news, so let’s throw it all in one post.  Pat Sajak’s newest game, Blackjack Bowling, is going to be released on mobile phone systems relatively soon.  Even more, the game has been on the air in Russia, so if you live there, please tell us how it is.

Also, there is an updated version of the original “Wheel of Fortune” plug-n-play game.  According to a source, at a Target, the new game is packaged in a plastic casing without the cardboard boxing that the original had.  The game is not without the upper left cartridge slot and is marked with a “1″ on the plastic emblem where the “gamekey” use to be.  “More than likely, this assumes that future version of the product will be released as Edition 2, 3, 4, etc. etc.

Also, GSN has launched a new download-ready version of Lingo.  I’ve gotten some reports back, and the general opinion is that it’s interesting, but could be better.  The game lets you play with 4, 5, 6, or 7 lettered words, which is a bit more of a challenge than the television show.  Go to GSN’s website for more information.
