My email account was flooded with Playmaniacs who were either joyous or (for the vast majority of them) upset about 100 Winners, from GSN’s Playmania, not being on the schedule anymore. We have an answer from GSN, so take a chill pill, everyone. The GSN vault is currently taking a bit of a hiatus. It’s not canceled. To quote what we were told:
“The show is taking a little break at the moment. In the meantime, we’re trying new things on “quiznation” that will keep the show fresh for the audience. They’ll notice new games and surprises all the time.”
So there you have it. Keep watching, as new things will be happening all the time.

I think that pretty much means the same thing as Play2Win’s “indefinite hiatus” or My GamesFever “season finale.”

I completely agree with you, Chad. This is just another way to avoid telling us that 100 Winners is probably gone and that Quiznation may be next. Not to mention that Optimistic Entertainment (which produces Playmania for GSN) may be going belly up. Their next financial report is due out on 6/30/07 and there may be more bad news then.

Personally, I’m hoping 100 Winners ends up being gone for good. It’s very bland and boring, the questions aren’t anywhere near as challenging as those on Quiznation, and way too many people end up getting $10 prizes or GSN hats. Quiznation winners usually get at least $200, and hardly ever under $100 for winning.

My Games Fever killed it self with the YOYO carp Play2Win was on way to late at nigh and it did not air in the Chicago area.
Midnight Money Madness Was fun but TBS f*** it up.

Unlike MyGames Fever and Midnight, the PlayMania series’ actually were good and still are. The hosts werent high on crack or smokin’ Snoop Dogg quantities like the ones on TBS and MyNetwork. I saw those a couple of times and I did not like all those hosts. They were as bad as most Deal contestants. Too fake.

I won’t miss 100 Winners. While I love the idea of a game built around a bank vault (one of the few things I liked about Break The Bank with Gene Rayburn was its “vault”) the execution was a mess.
I can track its decline in definite points: saddling Mel Peachey with it and almost never cutting her a break, the soon-after departure of Mel which dropped the show into host flux for a while, and finally the death knell came by the hands of the utterly STUPID questions like “What is Katie Couric’s profession?” (a real question from a recent show, mind you) Granted, the concept was deeply flawed from the get-go as they are not making 100 *winners* but giving away 100 *prizes* to LESS than 100 people.
I guess Mel knew she had to get out before this inevitably happened….

Don–
You can’t be serious. QuizNation has become the reincarnation of My Games Fever. All the focus on entry volume, hosts getting serious, you name it. I am just waiting to turn on GSN and see “Kourtney with a K, color is Brown, I need you to call, call, call me right now so I can give you money, money, money!!!!!!!”
Right now, GSN should do the right thing and at least release Jess and Shandi. Let them save what careers they have and go on to something else.
