I really dislike Gwen Stefani’s music, but the title just fit perfectly with what this post is about. No big news yet, so let’s have some humorous things thrown in. You’ll be getting a new addition to the Mob on 1 VS 100 on episode 206 (the sixth episode of season 2): a monkey! Endemol loves animals in shows. First we get a pony as a Deal or No Deal offer, that of which I’ll never forget, and now we get to have a monkey randomly press buttons. It brings a whole new meaning to the Mob going ape sh*t I suppose, doesn’t it?

This just proves that J!, WOF, FF, and WWTBAM are the only 4 game shows yet (other than GSN’s originals) that do not rely on gimmics and big money to entice their viewers.

You’re going to tell me season twenty-five Wheel of Fortune doesn’t use any gimmicks? Seriously?

Are you serious?! I think I may watch just to see how long the monkey lasts.
WoF used gimmicks long before season 25, believe you me. But TPiR? Gimmicks? I don’t think so.

Hey, I wonder what the monkey thinks about the new prize ladder? :)

The monkey should be ineligible as his brother developed the money ladder.

no, the monkey should be ineligible because a chimpanzee drew the numbers for play for a billion. XD

Is the monkey related to ben silverman or bob saget?

Wow… do they realize that they’re pretty much insulting themselves by throwing a monkey into the mix? If the monkey really does last for even a few questions (which I highly doubt), then they’ve just proven that the show is “so simple, a cavem– sorry, a monkey could do it.” And if the monkey goes out on the first question, well… there goes a few thousand dollars wasted on the monkey, the trainer, and the extra production time put in to work him into the show…
So Alex, please tell me this was a really early April Fool’s joke, since you know you’ll be away that day or something…

It is very simple, either you will win, or the monkey will win.

Lets just hope that that monkey would leave a big mess at its or his neighboring podiums.
BTW, I like Gwen Stefani’s music.

Speaking of the show, what’s your opinon on the new “Sneak Peek” rule-that it’s available to you once you’ve burned all three helps, regardless of how many Mob members are left (as opposed to the old 10 or less rule)?

David,
I think the sneak peek would be worlds better if they used the old question format. The question might seem extremely easy, but it would be turned in a different direction.

Bring on the Lancelot Link clone, his answers will be golden like the tales!!!
They should bring a whole row of his ape friends while they’re at it!!!
Wanna see how crazy they go when the mob wins over the contestant. Is J Fred Muggs the 3rd going to be next?

Nuuuuuuuuuu! Not teh monkey! D:
And now, if I may direct my anger towards KBGUY09:
“This just proves that J!, WOF, FF, and WWTBAM are the only 4 game shows yet (other than GSN’s originals) that do not rely on gimmics and big money to entice their viewers.”
The Daily Double isn’t a gimmick? I say it is.
Have you ever seen or heard of the original daytime version of Wheel of Fortune? Yeah, the syndicated Wheel of Fortune has always relied on big money to entice its viewers since its 1983 debut. Especially when compared to the last two years of daytime Wheel, with Bob Goen as host. Plus, Lose a Turn, Bankrupt, and the Free Spin (which have been with the show since the beginning in 1975!), as well as the bonus round (which didn’t appear until 1981), are “gimmicks” in my book!
The doubling and tripling of the points in Family Feud is, by my standards, another gimmick. As are Who Wants to be a Millionaire’s Lifelines. And how can you say Millionaire doesn’t rely on big money to entice its viewers; big money is in the show’s TITLE!!!
And to dropzone5: don’t get me started about The Price is Right! $500 for a perfect bid, the Showcase Showdown’s cash bonuses, the Double Showcase Win thingy…yeah, those are gimmicks in my book. >_<
My point: EVERY game show has some sort of gimmick! That’s how you pull in the viewers and encourage people to be contestants! Too many gimmicks is what’s screwing Deal or No Deal over, but at the same time, gimmicks aren’t ALL bad. ;)
